4 Things You Can Do to Brighten Someone’s Day

I’m happy to admit that my love language is gifting or random acts of kindness, I love to brighten peoples days.. I love the feeling of making your friends or loved ones feel thought of and cared about through small gestures. It doesn’t take much to turn somebodies day around and make a positive impact.

Before we get into it, I want to say thank you! I received my 1,000 likes award yesterday! I am so incredibly thankful for this community and for my readers.

1. Post a Card

It’s not really done much anymore, but I really enjoy sending cards in the post to friends or family. I think its much more personable than just sending a text or email, although those methods are great too! I don’t know about you, but I really enjoy receiving unexpected things in the mail (besides credit card bills haha). It’s also really inexpensive to do this too.

2. Pay for an Order Behind you

This is one of my personal favourites. Acts of kindness don’t just have to be to those that we know and love. A random act of kindness to a stranger is even more special. Who knows what they are going through. You could be that one thing that changes their perspective for the day.

3. Give Someone a Helping Hand

The first step is asking. How can I help? How can I make this better for you? Something as small as those questions can make a difference. It makes the other person know that they can count on you. It also helps you to know what the right thing to do is.

4. Let Someone Know You Appreciate Them

Although it’s easy to forget to do this, to me this should be almost a daily occurrence. We shouldn’t wait for a special occasion to let people know we love and appreciate them. It should be a regular thing we do. This could be a random message, or email, or even a phone call. Just let the people who mean the most to you, just how much you love and appreciate them.

What things do you do to brighten other peoples day? What do people do in your life to brighten your day?

It’s good to be kind. Even when sometimes you don’t feel like it. Whenever I do these random things, I always feel better afterwards. Just making people feel good, happy and appreciated is enough for me to feel fulfilled.

  2. Someone paid for my meal going through the drive through the other day! It absolutely made my day so I paid for the person behind me just to pass it on. It was an incredible gift that I so appreciated. The smallest little actions go such a long way. Blessings to you today! ❤️

  4. First of all congrats for 1000 likes! My likes as well have increased rapidly recently so I am looking to get to 1000 soon!

Also I love these tips that you give! In particular, letting someone you know that you appreciate them can even be via a simple text message, but it really can make someones day!

One thing I do as well is to reach out and check up on people. Especially in these pandemic times, asking someone and wishing their family good health really goes a long way! We need to be kind to others 🙂

    Brilliant post Olivia!!

  7. Congratulations on the amazing milestone Olivia! I appreciate you and this post was a great reminder to think of others and to at least do one selfless thing every day. Besides the amazing suggestions you had, I also try to actively listen to someone else and put the focus on them when they speak and give them my undivided attention. Sometimes we listen to respond but sometimes all people want is someone to just listen and allow them a space to be. I’m still a work in progress but I try to cognisant of this. Either way, love your space and can’t wait to read more!

I love that you do that. I always use the saying, people dont listen to hear they listen to respond. And im so glad you actively listen to those that speak with you! Im sure its appreciated! Sometimes we just need a hearing ear dont we.

Thanks so much for your kind words💕

    1. Thank you so much!!
I agree, I think it’s so important to pay it forward. It usually sets off a chain reaction and means that, the person then pays it forward to another. Such a beautiful thing 💖

  9. Love these thoughts. 💛 I was recently part of such a card making thing that was going around on Facebook, and I was so happy to make cards for people even though I didn’t know them! There’s something beautiful about cards indeed. I too love getting cards even if many consider it outdated!

    1. Ah that sounds so fun! Its so rewarding for both parties when you both do a random act of kindness! Receiving a card is much better than receiving a text or email in my opinion. I do enjoy those other things but nothing beats a hand written message 💖

  10. Love this post! Its so nice to see people spread positivity!

I, also, think another easy way is to use social media to spread good. This generation uses a lot of social media – it takes less than a minute to drop a nice comment on someone’s post/story!

  11. Congratulations on reaching an incredible goal! Loving your blogs, so thoughtful and meaningful. This one makes me nervous but ‘Pay for an Order Behind you’ fills me with anxiety, but I will face my fears and do this when I go to the shop tonight!

  12. I like what you said about showing appreciation. Yes, it must be a normal affair that happens commonly, and does not require a special day for us to acknowledge the good in others.
