30 Random Acts of Kindness Ideas

There is one thing the world so desperately needs right now and thats more kind people. 2020 has been a rough year. We’ve had Coronavirus, racial injustice around the world and devastating explosions and fires. Now let me be clear, I’m not saying random acts of kindness is the answer to all of the terrible things happening in the world. However, as humans we should stick together. We are in this together. Being kind to each other is the very least thing we should do for one another. I have come up with a list 30 random acts of kindness that we can do to show each other a little bit of love, because we know that we need it right now.

1. Smile at a stranger
2. Pay for the order behind you
3. Bring your neighbours mail or rubbish bin in for them
4. Send a card of encouragement
5. Start a conversation with a stranger
6. Tip your waitress or taxi driver more than usual
7. Leave a note of encouragement for a stranger to find
8. Donate money/goods to local charities
9. Pay for a strangers petrol
10. Babysit for free
11. Cook dinner for friends
12. Ask a stranger how they are
13. Give a random compliment
14. Clean up your neighbourhood
15. Offer to cut your neighbour/friends lawn
16. Volunteer at a local charity
17. Donate items to an animal shelter
18. Send a good morning text to a friend
19. Let someone know how much you appreciate them
20. Pay for someones groceries
21. Send someone in need a gift card
22. Pay for a kids school supplies
23. Hold open doors for people
24. Let someone go in-front of you
25. Leave flowers at a doorstep
26. Tell your friends/family you love them
27. Donate blood
28. Support a local business
29. Donate food to a food bank
30. Send thank you cards to emergency workers

What kind of random acts of kindness do you do for people? How does it make you feel when you do them?

These are just a few things that we can do, that may make such a difference to someones life. They are small, but could be big to someone on the receiving end. Olivia x

  1. Gorgeous post, thank you for sharing. Kindness is definitely something that we need more of in this world, you never know what another person is going through, and just a smile can make a huge difference to persons day.💚❤️

    1. You really don’t! Which is why its important to be kind always. I know when i’ve been in a bad way and a stranger has done something kind to me has turned my whole day around 💙

  2. Really great ideas. Being kind is so important and most people don’t get that. I think the easiest way (out of all the ways you’ve mentioned) is to just compliment someone. It takes a minute and can really brighten up someone’s day. And it’s free! ☺️

  3. I love your suggestions, you’ve got some perfect ones for all occasions whether you’re at home or out. Even during the pandemic we can be kind, and sometimes just a random email or text to say hi and see how someone is can make all of the difference 🤗

  4. Some nice points made here! A lot of these are so easy to do and don’t take any time at all but we are guilty of not doing them. For example point 26, telling your friends/family you love them , it takes 5 seconds yet we don’t show this appreciation as much as we should be doing! Thanks for sharing Olivia, being kind to ourselves and to others is so so important!

    1. Thanks for reading Niraj! ☺️
Theres no excuses not to spread kindness when technology is so advanced now that it really does take 5 seconds to send a word of encouragement

    1. I love hearing that people are organ donors, I am too! I didn’t realise the importance of it until a few years ago. Why let them go to waste when they could save the life of another human 🤗

      1. Oh, that’s wonderful! I figure that way it can help others to heal from the loss of you as well. They’ll know that you live on in other people and the goodness they bring to the world! I’m 16, almost 17 so can register my intent to donate which I’m doing very soon

  5. That post was amazing! (As always!) Sending kindness all around us has never been as important before.
I do not think you mentionned it but on my trip ton Dublin (far before the pandemic lol), lots of Cafés had a system I found wonderful. You could pay for an espresso or anything else in advance, and next time a homeless person would ask for coffee, it would be free for them (you actually paid for their coffee/food earlier). I just wanted to put that here as I never thought it could exist, we do not have much of it in France. 🌸

    1. Oh wow, that is such a wonderful idea!! I really love that and have never heard of that being done before. It really restores my faith in humanity when I hear of things like this.
I have never heard of it happening here in England where I live either! Thank you so much for sharing 🙂

  6. Last time I smiled at a stranger I got back a frown😅. I didn’t mind though.
    What I didn’t get a frown for was paying a stranger’s car fare😊

My major act of kindness was in your list though… donating blood. I do it happily. I’m a student pharmacist so it’s one thing I do to help mankind💚

    1. Hahaha some people really don’t appreciate a smile, they take it the wrong way sometimes. But its the act of doing it thats the most important.

Its such a small thing we can do but it can help save peoples lives, and I think thats so important. And its a very selfless thing we can do for someone too💕
