10 Habits to Help You Grow a More Positive Mindset

As summer is slowly fading away, and the days get shorter and the nights get longer, I know how hard it can be to keep a positive mindset. If you’re anything like me, I thrive in the summer months. I love the brightness, the sun and everything Spring and Summer brings. As soon as it gets to Autumn and Winter I become unmotivated, my mood decreases and I overall just am not my best self.

Before we get started, I just wanted to let you guys know that I have created a new Instagram page for my blog. I thought having a dedicated page away from my personal page would be better! So if you have instagram please give me a follow @olivialucieblake or click the image below.

There is actually a disorder called seasonal affective disorder (SAD), its also known as “winter depression” which I think is what I suffer with, and thats why I really hate Autumn and Winter. But I thought to myself, there are so many things in life that we can still acknowledge and be thankful for. Doing this can help in creating that more positive outlook and mindset. So I have created a list of 10 habits that you (and me) can do to help boost our positive thinking,

1. Keep a gratitude/thankfulness journalEven if its one thing per day, write it down. It’s a really good habit to get into, and something you can refer back to at a later point.

2. Acknowledge the bad daysNot everyday will be wonderful, but we must have the bad days to appreciate the good.

3. Surround yourself with positive and uplifting peopleThe company you keep can be a reflection of you. Surround yourself with likeminded, genuine people who really care for you.

4. Do the things you loveLife is too short to not do what you love.

5. Take time for yourselfI’m such an advocate for taking time off your usual routine. It can help change your mindset.

6. Find small blessings in your dayThere is always something to be grateful for in each day. It doesn’t need to be something big.

7. Bless Others – Theres nothing more that fills my soul with joy than blessing others. It can help so much in changing your perspective too.

8. Create positive visual reminders – Remind yourself how great you are doing. Set reminders on your phone, or write them out on sticky notes. Be a blessing to yourself.

9. Practice Self-careLook after yourself. Not just external but internal too.

10. Strive to put yourself in positive situations and remove yourself from negative onesYou’ll notice such a difference when you start putting yourself in better places.

What do you do to grow a more positive mindset? Do you suffer with SAD? Could you add anything onto this list?

  3. Loved this post! I’m definitely all about Summer but I try to make an effort to see the beauty in Autumn and Winter. For example, noticing the leaves turn orange, fresh autumn air, or even the early evenings and catching a winter sunset where the sky looks warm but its actually really crisp haha.

You automatically become a better person that you already are! Waking up and just saying ‘thank you’ for the things you’re thankful for (ya gotta feel it) makes your day BLOOMIN’ I’m tellin’ ya!
