8 Ways to Make Your Home Feel More Luxurious

The quality of a home has long been important, but it has an even greater role in a world where we’re spending more time on our properties than ever before. One study found that homeowners are spending an average of one hour, and 39 minutes more in their homes today than they did in 2006. As such, it’s of greater importance that homeowners love spending time there — if you’re going to spend a huge chunk of your day somewhere, then it makes sense that you should love it!

In this post, we’re going to run through some handy ways to give your property “the luxury touch,” which should ensure that you love being in your home more than ever before.

This is a contributed post.

CLEAR THE SPACE

Step into a luxury space, and you’ll notice that there’s, well, space. It’s easy for homes to become cluttered with items, especially if you’ve been living there for a long time, but it pays to be mindful of the subtly corrosive effect that clutter can have not just on the property, but on your state of mind. It’s hard to feel relaxed and joyful when you’re in an increasingly claustrophobic space.

Commit to having a thorough clearout, and you’ll notice the difference. Can’t bring yourself to get rid of items? Book a storage unit or put the items out of sight in your garage or basement.

ADD ART AND PLANTS

Luxury touches can be functional, but they don’t need to be. They can also exist simply to bring joy. You can follow this philosophy by adding artwork and plants to your home. They can provide an instant lift to the property, and what’s more, it’s easy to do. If you’ve never looked after plants before, then start with ones that are easy to care for. For artwork, it’s best to invest in original pieces that you genuinely enjoy. You’ll be surprised at just how much of a transformative effect a large piece of art can have on a well-put-together room.

FOCUS ON THE BATHROOM

You can add luxury touches to all corners of your property, but you’ll feel the impact in some parts of the home more than others. Take the bathroom, for instance. Done correctly, your bathroom can take on spa-like qualities, allowing you to fully relax and unwind.

Ideally, you’ll have space to put a bath, which will make it much easier to sink into spa-like enjoyment. But don’t worry if you don’t have the space — things like adding mood lighting, investing in luxurious towels, and adding plants and flowers can transform the space. Pick up a few shower bombs, and you’ll have everything you need to truly pamper yourself.

ENHANCE COMFORT

A good rule of thumb when putting together a home tinged with luxury is to ask yourself: what elements of a luxury, five-star hotel can I incorporate into the property? There’ll be some touches — like a grand piano in the entranceway — that are probably off-limits, but there’ll be plenty of others that you can add.

Focusing on comfort, for example, is very much within reach. There are two key areas when it comes to enhancing comfort: the living room and the bedroom. In the living room, luxurious Denelli Italia sofas, which offer the perfect blend of comfort and luxury aesthetics, would be a good option. In the bedroom, it’s about investing in a plush, hotel-worthy mattress. With those two items, you should find that it’s easy to sink into comfort.

CREATE A RELAXING YARD

It’s the interior part of your home that will — and should — get most of the attention during your quest to make your home more luxurious, but don’t discount the external part of your property. With a little bit of work, your yard area can become a tranquil, zen garden that offers an unparalleled level of comfort and relaxation.

Creating a relaxing garden doesn’t require massive amounts of work. If you can make it look beautiful, add a touch of privacy, and install a water feature, then you’ll have gone a long way towards ensuring that you and your family can enjoy those long summer days outside.

MINIMISE WIRES

Owning technology is a luxury, but the devices themselves? Not so much, and that’s especially true if they have wires. No one ever thinks of cables when they imagine a luxurious environment.

To keep the luxury aesthetic, it’s best to hide wires as much as you can. There are plenty of smart ways to conceal wires, and you can also make a habit of keeping any chargers tucked away out of sight when they’re not in use.

You can take this concept even further by minimizing the amount of time people spend staring at devices while at home. Turning off the internet after a certain hour or having tech-free spaces is a genuine luxury in an age when we’re all online more than we’d like to be.

UPGRADE YOUR KITCHEN

The kitchen is more than just functional. It can also make a big impression, and can absolutely contribute to the overall luxuriousness of the home. By making some luxury improvements, you’ll not only make cooking more enjoyable, but you’ll also enhance the value of the property, too.

There’s no shortage of ways to give your kitchen a luxury feel. One effective way is to look at adding copper products, such as a copper hood, sink, and kitchenware. Copper is pricier than other materials, but it looks much better — plus, it’ll last for decades, so you can think of it as an investment.

FOCUS ON THE SENSES

Finally, one of the more underrated ways to make your home feel more luxurious is to focus on the senses. Walk into any luxury establishment, and there’ll be a lovely aroma hanging in the air. By adding a diffuser to your property, you’ll be gently elevating the overall feel of the property. It can take a little bit of time to find the scent that’s right for you, but once you have, you’ll feel like you’re stepping into a five-star hotel every time you arrive home.
