Life isn’t always easy, and being an adult is hard. Between spending your life juggling work, keeping your relationships afloat, and trying to remember if you pay the electric bill, life at home can get messy sometimes. The house that once sparked joy for you now sparked mild panic.
And as you move into your later years of life, what used to be an obstacle in terms of the laundry basket has now become an obstacle in terms of, well, everything else. If you’ve been wondering whether it’s time to get a bit of help, here are some signs that your home is gently nudging you toward extra support.
This is a contributed post.
YOU CAN’T MANAGE THE BASICS ANYMORE
You swear you just did your laundry 2 days ago, but it turns out you have a pile up going on in your garage. You’ve begun to differentiate the cleanish clothes from the only one once clothes, and your wardrobe now rotates around the clothes that happen to be on top of the pile. You can’t get to the washing fast enough because you’re moving slower, which means that if you’re getting on in life, calling in home care to help you is a great plan. Not only could home care experts help you with laundry, but other house chores as well. Folded and hung clothes shouldn’t be a luxury, and you can ask for help when you need it.
YOU CAN’T KEEP UP WITH THE DISHES
As you age, your bones become sore and your hands become swollen when your joints refuse to work the way that they used to. Handling wet, slippery dishes is something that you just cannot manage anymore. Cooking at home is nice in theory, and if you spent years cooking for yourself, you’ll want to continue that tradition. But if your hands don’t allow you to do it, something’s got to give. Getting some in-home help, even for meal prep or planning can save your sanity and your stomach.
THE STAIRS ARE BECOMING A PROBLEM
As we move into our senior years, climbing stairs is much like trying to do the dishes. It becomes too difficult and your joints just don’t obey.Instead of panicking about getting up and down to bed everyday, having home help come to get you out of bed, down the stairs and into your dining room in the morning is a great way of being able to navigate. Eventually you may decide to move into an apartment or to a bungalow, but in the meantime, having extra pairs of hands to give you support as you move around your house can help.
YOU CAN’T REMEMBER MUCH ANYMORE
Dementia is cruel. Much of our aged population end up with memory issues, dementia or full blown Alzheimer’s and if that is you then getting some home help to do the basics with you and for you is a good way to invest your cash. Needing support at home? Whether you need somebody to handle chores, assist with errands, or just help you to stay on top of things, seek out home care and improve your daily life.
