The Reason We Still Plan Events

There is a reason why we still gather to celebrate, even when life gets busy and expensive. Parties and events allow us to share our successes together. It’s so important to look back and remember and celebrate the big (and small!) wins in our lives.

Not every celebration needs to be grand. It can look like a room full of people you love most.

NOT EVERYTHING NEEDS A FILTER

In a world of Instagram and Tik Tok, not everything has to picture perfect. Sometimes things go wrong, and that’s okay. It’s what makes us human. What people remember about events is how it made them feel. They remember the conversations they had and the connections they formed, not whether the napkins were folded the correct way.

Events should feel human and not staged. Our day to day lives are never staged so why should the moments we celebrate our wins. When it comes to events, we should remember that they are to be a fun time in life, and a time to build relationships and connections with others.

WHY WE CELEBRATE WORK TOO

Our celebrations don’t just have to be personal. Celebrating promotions, completing that big piece of work or even just getting through the financial year is a reason to have a party. Recognising these things can help improve confidence at work. Whether you’re an award ceremony organiser or just planning a team meeting, try to think about how work can be celebrated at these events too.

Industry events are just as important as celebrating those personal milestones. They help us to recognise that what we do at work matters too.

MAKING SPACE FOR WHAT MATTERS

We have spoken about why throwing parties and events for our personal lives is important, and the importance of recognising milestones at work too. I don’t think the event and award business will be going under any time soon. There will always be promotions to be celebrated, birthday milestones to be shared and events that need planning.
