Before I came back to blogging in 2020 I had no idea I could build a brand from my blog. It wasn’t even something that I had considered. I always knew blogging to be something you could do as a hobby and a place to read recipes and other fun things like that. At the time I didn’t realise that so many people make really successful businesses from it. I know that being at the stage where you make money from blogging can take a while, but I didn’t even consider it to be an option for me.
At one point we were all a new blogger, struggling to navigate the site we just signed up to and trying to figure out what to even write about. We have all been there, and it really can be a struggle sometimes. Before I was a blogger I’d come across so many beautiful and professional looking sites whilst trying to find one of my favourite cookie recipes. I’d be in awe of the sleek designs and professional imagery I saw. I wondered how much time and effort was put into creating and maintaining a site like that.
We assume that people who have professional looking sites are long standing bloggers and have been in the business for a while, but thats not always true. I have blogging friends who have beautiful looking sites who just posted their first blog a month ago. It’s really all down to the time and effort the individual puts into their website.
Everyday I feel like I learn something new about blogging, do you feel that too? There is so much to learn and understand, from SEO (search engine optimisation) to blog themes, to back links… I could be here all day listing it all. Something I’ve been learning recently though is that a website is such a huge representation of the person/company behind it, and it made me realise how important it is to maintain a good website thats representative of you and your brand.
