Southeastern Florida has some of the best beach views, more incredible attractions, and interesting people that you’ll ever meet. In the midst of all of this is a mix of affordable and expensive living, entertainment a short drive away, and fantastic weather year-round: so where should you move?
These are the best cities to move here for: and what to consider when you move.
WHY FLORIDA?
Florida is often viewed as a state that’s made of tourism, gators, and beaches: and that assumption isn’t entirely wrong! Along with the great attractions, there’s a flirtation with danger and some of the best views you’ll see in the country.
Florida allows you to have fantastic weather for ninety percent of the year, sunny beaches whenever you want them, and incredible food to keep you filled to the brim with comfort.
Although Florida can get expensive, it’s worth it. These are the top three cities to check out if you’re considering moving to southeastern Florida!
VERO BEACH
On the Treasure Coast, Vero Beach was once one of the best-kept secrets in Florida. Now well known and incredibly popular, you’ll be surprised to hear that the average home for sale here is still just $212,000 dollars! This is an incredible drop below the state and national medians, ensuring you can afford plenty of space while still getting to go have fun with outdoor and cultural activities and some of the best restaurants in the country.
FORT LAUDERDALE
This gem on Florida’s southeastern coast is best known for its fantastic boating canals and pristine beaches. You can enjoy affordable food and fun while taking in attractions like the International Swimming Hall of Fame, luxury hotels, and awesome trails and lagoons. Fort Lauderdale houses for sale are also affordable for the average person, allowing you to buy your own slice of paradise.
MIAMI BEACH
This is one of the first cities that come to mind when people think about southern Florida. Partying in Miami Beach gives you the chance to take in multiple cultures and experiences at once, getting in touch with communities you might not find anywhere else. The food, nightlife, music scene, and general culture are exciting and fun for anyone.
WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE MOVING
Although all of Florida is a paradise: it’s vital to know that living in this portion of it can leave you open to a lot of risks. This is the most beautiful area in the state, so of course, it has one drawback. In hurricane season, which is most of the late summer, this portion of the state is the most common area to be hit in all of Florida. This can raise insurance rates on your home and vehicle, and this should be carefully considered before you move. You’ll never find anywhere more beautiful and incredible to live: but there is a risk.
FLORIDA CAN BE PARADISE
If you’ve never been to Florida, it’ll amaze you from the moment you arrive via plane, car, or bus. There’s nothing quite like the sunshine state to make you never want to leave!
I visited with my parents when I was a child and never wanted to leave. And I set it as a goal. I moved myself and two little children back when I was 22, and lived here nearly 40 years! Love it! I have lived in many places from east to west in Florida too! ❤️🦋🌀
I love Florida so much! I’ve only visited twice but each time I fall in love more and more! Its such a beautiful state.
I agree, wholeheartedly, Olivia. I fell in love with palm trees 🌴 and the clean ocean air, among other things. No state income tax, no personal property taxes, no car inspections/stickers (yet another form of taxation), etc. To me, Florida is more of a “live free or die” state, than New Hampshire (which has that as its state motto). 😩😉
Very nice and informative article but I must disagree with regards to Miami Beach. I have been a permanent resident of Miami Beach from 1985 through 2018. I moved back to Europe in 2019. I have now returned to visit friends and I see that Miami Beach is definitely the worst place you can visit in South Florida. If you go to their “Famous” beach, you will see that it is full of trucks, service vehicles, ATVs, tractors going up and down the sand area all day long. If you choose to walk on their “famous” Beachwalk, you will find that you must share a very small walking area, no wider than 2 metres, with bikes, roller skaters, skateboards and scooters. So if you are taking your young children, better not let go of their hands because they may get hit by one vehicle or another. And everything is extremely expensive, so bring a lot of your hard earned dollars. Or better, go to another one of the beaches mentioned in this article, which are much nicer.
Cheers and all the best,
I fully respect your opinion! We all have different ideas of what attracts us to visit certain areas of the world and what doesn’t!
Hopefully others experiences of Miami are better than of those you had ☺️
Thank you Olivia. All the best

Me too!
I really appreciate this wonderful post that you have provided for us. I assure this would be beneficial for most of the people.
Great post made me think
Wow! This can be one particular of the most useful blogs We have ever arrive across on this subject.
I LOVE Florida. We were just there a couple months ago and I never wanted to leave. I feel that way every single time we visit. Maybe it’s the proximity to the ocean, but it just feels like home to me.
Be beautiful enough to feast the eyes
