4 Blogging Rules to Follow

Blogging rules are everywhere. You see advice and guidance all over the internet of tips and tricks from people who want to help you to grow your website. Sharing knowledge like this is something I’ve always found value in doing and something I wish more bloggers did when I first started blogging. Advice straight from the source.

Rules aren’t one size fits all though. Especially if your goal with your blog is to just post here and there with no desire to grow your platform, then maybe these ‘rules’ won’t apply to you. But if you’re the blogger that wants to grow and become a big name in the blogging world, then these rules might be something you’re interested in.

The beauty of blogging is that you won’t find two of the same bloggers or writers. We’re all so different and thats why I love the blogging space. Take these blogging rules with a pinch of salt if you want to. But if you want to grow and develop your website into something great, then I’m glad you’re here and I’m able to share the little knowledge I have with you.

1. BE CONSISTENT

Consistency will always be key when it comes to getting results in anything. Having a consistent stream of content will almost always lead to growth in your online site. Whether its blogging or any other social media platform.

Create your own schedule, whether it’s posting once a month or twice a week. Whatever it is, stick to it. I noticed the most growth of my own website when I was consistently posting out content. When I first started blogging I actually posted almost everyday for quite a few months. And I put my own site growth down to this fact. Getting your content out there regularly will really help to build traction.

2. BE CONNECTED

Staying connected with what’s going on in the outside world and with other bloggers is so important. There are a few ways to do this.

  • Being connected with other bloggers is something I will always advocate for. Find your people and stay in touch regularly. Other bloggers know what it’s like to be a blogger and often can help you and support you when nobody else can. Collaborations are great for this.
  • Utilise social media and other channels that can help grow your website. The MK blog directory is a perfect place to add your website to (and it’s free!) It’s a free online directory where people can go and search and choose from a bunch of different blogs to visit. Its a perfect way to gain some extra traffic to your website.
  • Collaborate with other bloggers whenever you can. Collaborations usually involve them writing a post for your site, and you writing one for theirs. Its a great way to reach out to a new audience!

3. BE IN THE LOOP

Staying in the loop when it comes to blogging is one of the most important blogging rules. This can look different for different people. Whether it’s keeping on top of the trends of 2023 or researching the best Key words to utilise SEO. Google Trends is a great tool to use when it comes to finding what keywords to use on your blog posts.

Doing all of this will not only help build your website, but will also help In SEO and increasing traffic to your site too.

4. BE MOTIVATED

Motivation comes and goes, believe me I know. We won’t always be motivated to do the same thing everyday, thats just human nature. But one of the most important blogging rules I follow is ensuring that I’m motivated to do all the things I’ve just shared. Even on days when I don’t really want to. I’ve taught you that consistency is key when it comes to anything, especially blogging. And you have to be motivated to remain consistent.

Create yourself a blogging schedule and stick to it. Give yourself a monthly goal and see if you can hit it. Then, if you want to you can always change the goal every month to something different. You will see results when it comes to growing your website when you’re consistent, when you’re connected to others, when you’re in the loop and when you’re motivated to do so.

What are some blogging rules that you follow? Do you have any tips you could share?

  1. Exponential blog post Olivia. Being a Blogger is not a walk in the park and a Blogger needs to be consistent when aiming to reach the target of acquiring incoming views and driving traffic.

Also, being connected with other Bloggers is key and staying motivated helps the blog to not be ignored. Lastly, using social media helps a lot in this case because the people who read are also using social media so sharing your links there helps a lot💯
