3 Things I have Learnt About Myself In 2021

2021 has been a year, and honestly I have learnt about myself more this year than any other year. Maybe its because of the pandemic and I haven’t had anything else to do. Or whether this was just the year I was supposed to flourish and become who I am meant to be. From speaking to other people they have said the same thing. They have felt that this last 18 months have provided us some time to sit and reflect on life and who we are. And really I feel like thats what’s happened.

It’s Taken Me 26 Years To Love Myself

I can’t actually believe that its taken me 26 years to love myself, but here I am.

As many of you know, over the last 6 months I have embarked on a new lifestyle journey. Learning to love and respect my body, mind and soul. I have been exercising and eating better so that I can become better. But not only have I been learning to love my body, but myself as a whole. Never before I have I felt such peace with myself. Everyday I learn something new about who I am and who I am becoming. I have spoken to a few people about this topic, and so many have said that they are at a point even still at 40-50 years old where they don’t love themselves. Society has such a large part to play in this. With their unreal beauty standards and expectations of how we should look and be as people.

Do you feel as though you have good body positivity? Do you love yourself and the body that you are in? I know it can be hard to answer those questions, because for me it depends what day it is. Some days I wake up feeling great, I love myself and I embrace who I am. Others I wake up feeling the total opposite. And thats totally normal.

We are living in a world where there is one type of body that is admired by the masses and one type of body that is socially acceptable. And if our bodies don’t fit that standard it can leave us feeling less worthy, or not beautiful enough. Which should not be the case at all.

I say force, because alot of the time I don’t really feel like doing it. Doing these practices might not get rid of my problem, but it sure does make me feel better for it. Self-care is so important for maintaining good mental and physical health. We often forget how important self-care is for our overall wellbeing.

Do you struggle finding ways to show yourself love? It can be hard after years of hating the way that you are. I don’t think social media and the media in general today helps with that. They praise certain body types whilst bashing others. They help to set this expectation in peoples lives that we must look and be a certain way to ‘fit in’, and anybody who doesn’t conform that standard is seen as an outsider and unwanted.

In todays post we will be going through 20 things you can do to fall in love with yourself. Some easier than others but all beneficial to creating that great relationship with ones self. Self-love is hard and can be a long progress. It will mentally be tough and maybe physically, but the main thing is that you start. We must learn to wholeheartedly love ourselves and accept who we are as people. Looking smaller than my age has always been an insecurity of mine. Most of my friends are either taller than me or have bigger bodies than mine. But recently, I have come to notice that most people actually look smaller than their ages but the only reason this disturbed me was because the people I surrounded myself with, never stopped to remind me of my size. Of course this wasn’t said to me directly, it was rather an indirect reference. The funny part about it, is that they weren’t even my friends just acquaintances.
