It’s a known fact that most people in the world hate Mondays. Monday signifies the end of the weekend, the start of a new working week, and 5 more days till the weekend. This alone can be a really daunting fact to some people and can be a really scary feeling. Have you ever heard of the saying Monday blues? Typically when you say someone has the “blues” it’s referring to them feeling sad, or upset or just not themselves. Monday blues is the same thing, except its referred to as a feeling you get of being “blue” because its Monday.
Before we get started, I just wanted to let you guys know that I have created a new Instagram page for my blog. I thought having a dedicated page away from my personal page would be better! So if you have instagram please give me a follow at @olivialucieblake or click the image below.
I haven’t always loved Mondays, so if you hate them I know how you feel. I recognised I had to make a change in my life to begin loving the start of the week. Change isn’t easy, but its necessary. A lot of my own Monday hatred was what the week contained. I worked a job I hated that had such a negative effect on my mental health. I would dread the commute to work and have panic attacks on a regular basis. I had to change this and I’m so glad I did. So let’s work on getting you to stop Hating Mondays too. Let’s get started!
QUIT SAYING YOU HATE MONDAY
First and foremost, just stop saying you hate Mondays. Maybe do the opposite and say you love Mondays! Speaking it and telling yourself that you hate the beginning of the week will not help you love the beginning of the week. Speak positive affirmations out, let yourself hear it out loud and see how your perspective changes. If you don’t know what affirmations are, here is a quote I found:
“Affirmations in New Thought and New Age terminology refer primarily to the practice of positive thinking and self-empowerment“
– Wikipedia
HAVE SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO
This helped me so much when I began my Monday loving journey. Having something to look forward to on Monday or even the rest of the week really gave me a clear goal and destination that I knew I needed to get to. It was motivation for the week.
Plan a dinner out with a friend or your partner. Schedule a hair appointment. Go on a walk, go to the movies. Theres so many things you can plan to do that will make Mondays easier.
One bit of advice I would give too is don’t leave everything till Monday. I know there’s temptation there to leave all the work for when you get back to it after the weekend. The Friday feeling can get to us and we think “Oh I’ll do all of this on Monday“. Thats probably one of the worst things you can do. You don’t want to overload yourself at the start of the week.
MAKE IT ONE OF YOUR MOST PRODUCTIVE DAYS
Set yourself a to-do list and aim to complete it. Be realistic with the tasks you give yourself though and make sure you are going to be able to achieve them. You don’t want to feel defeated on the first day of the week. Making Monday one of your most productive days will also help the day to go so much faster too, and who doesn’t want a faster Monday?
CHANGE SOMETHING
This one is a tough one and sometimes hard to hear. If you are so unhappy with your week then you really need to change something. Thats what I did and it was the best thing I have ever done. Change your job, change your routine. Change that something that is stopping you from loving the start of the week. Every Monday I would be filled with dread as I knew I had a whole week doing something I hated. I know how it feels. But I also know how it feels to be freed from that Monday feeling and it’s the best feeling in the world.
How do you battle the Monday feeling? Do you enjoy Mondays? What are your thoughts on this topic?
I hope this post can help even one person to learn new techniques to change the perspective you create of the start of the week. It really will be life changing!

Love this, Olivia!

Thank you so much. I do try hard to make sure my content is informative and helpful! Glad its being noticed ☺️
Great post Olivia. I used to hate Monday’s and woke with a feeling of dread. My husband and I used to go out for our tea every Monday night and as you say, it was at least something to look forward to. I now love Monday’s and it’s my most productive day.
I love that you managed to turn around your perspectives of Mondays. I now enjoy the start of the week too! Its a sign of a new beginning and so many possibilities!
Thanks for sharing that with us Laura!
I needed this 🙏🏽 Like you said will have to stop with “I hate Monday’s”
Great post Olivia ✨
It really does! Something as simple as saying out loud is the first step to changing your mindset.
Thanks for reading! 🤗
Ok maybe I’m in the minority here but I used to like Mondays. Fresh start to the week, a nice cup of coffee when I used to go to work. However I do like the suggestion of having something to look forward too. I think I need to incorporate that into my life a lot more. Thanks for the posting this.
Some people do like Mondays already, but some don’t too! I like the perspective you have here, its a great one to have.
For sure having something to look forward to really helps 😊
I battle Monday feelings like this: thinking that I have a whole week ahead of me, and there are many things I can do. That I am grateful I got to live another Monday, the first tip is really a MUST! Great job, Livvy!
I love that! Its so great that you don’t hate the start of the week, its so important to keep that mindset!
Thanks for commenting lovely 💕
Of course, Boomtown Rats had a huge hit with “I Don’t Like Monday’s.” and Garfield supposedly hates Monday’s too (because Garfield’s human – Jon heads off to work after the weekend).
My approach to Monday’s these days is to enjoy the weekend as much as possible. Secondly, I take the pressure off Monday, if I can, through planning out the week or longer on the Friday before and look at the best fit for what can be done on Monday. Finally, I look forward to enjoying Monday night as a reward for getting through that day.
I love these points Sean! Monday night is a great time to reward yourself for getting through the toughest day of the week! What a great idea, thanks for sharing with us!
This was another much needed post! I practically dread Monday’s so much that I wish I could just skip that day😂 These are some amazing ideas and I’m definitely going to try them out! Thank you for sharing!!
I sometimes think that too, but Tuesday would then just become the least favourite day of the week! 😉
Thanks for reading!!
Haha, yes😂 But Monday just sounds so heavy.
It really does! It sounds tiring to even say 🤪
😂❤️
I’ve never actually hated mondays but as always, love this post you’ve got such beautiful, honest content so thank you for sharing 😊💖
Thanks girl, I appreciate it! 💛
💖😊❤️
Thanks for these awesome tips, Olivia!
Mondays can definitely feel super heavy sometimes! I always try to do a good workout as even though it might be difficult I always feel so much better afterward and ready for the week. 🙂
Yes! Such a greta idea to kick start your week! Thanks for sharing that!
Really needed this !! Great post 🌸🌸
So glad that you enjoyed it! Thanks for being here🤗
Thanks for sharing this! Mondays are something that I’m not a huge fan of, though (but to be honest, I’ve mistaken Fridays for Mondays when the week just drags on 🤣🤣). Now that I’m occupied with stuff, maybe I might take some of these tips into consideration!
I didn’t use to be a fan of them either! I hope the tips I shared can help change that! 🤗 Since I have been working at home, everyday has felt the same to me too lol!!
Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts with us!
You’re very welcome! 😊
Love this post. I used to hate Monday’s but hated the idea of losing 1/7th of my week when it mostly turned out alright anyway! I now find something good in each Monday xx
I feel the same. Monday never did anything to us for us to hate it so much haha!
There is good in each day too, I love that perspective! x
Not all the time but these days I do hate Mondays as I have to get up early to attend my online classes. But I really loved this post and it is so creative 🤗😀💕.
Monday loves you after this post.
Loved this post 😊
Such a great post! You’re right, saying that you hate something already makes it so much harder to endure. I personally plan a nice treat because food solves everything!
Food really does solve all life problems 🙊
This is so inspiring and uplifting, thanks for sharing 💫✨
You’re so welcome. So glad you enjoyed it 🙌🏻☺️

This is all definitely advice I need to take on board, thank you for sharing 💜
So glad you enjoyed it☺️Thank you for reading!
Great tips!
Thank you so much!! ☺️
this was really good advice. i used to dread sundays and mondays, because I would be so anxious about going to work.
I used to feel the exact same way, it can be really stressful. I hope you were able to overcome that!
Feels like this post was made for me, haha! Every Monday I turn on google translate and have it say some variation of “what kind of asshole invited Mondays? I do not approve!” and it’s became a running joke in my household. Truth be told though, I genuinely do not like Monday’s or any day of the week where I have to head off to a place I hate. That’s why I’m so keen to start tafe next year- I want a chance to renew my passion for life and learning and just further myself.
Followed your new Instagram page! It’s so pretty x
Oh girl i know the feeling. Its a really daunting and annoying feeling having to wake up and think “i dont want to go” 😞
I guess thats what comes with being an adult!!
Thank you so much! 🥰
Great tips!
Thank you so much!
You’re welcome 😇
Hahha, the infamous Monday’s:) I’m still not a big Monday fan but thanks for brining that perspective! I’m one step closer to hating them less by reading this post 👍
I hope so! It can take alot of time to stop hating something! So it wont be an overnight change 🙂
Great post, I used to hate Monday’s but now it is my most productive day and that really helps me to enjoy the day more, just knowing that I’m going to get stuff done makes me so happy and look forward to the week ahead 💚❤️
Proof that you can learn to love Mondays, its all about perspective! Thanks for sharing that 💛
