Blogging comparison is something that can really consume us bloggers at various times. Comparison in general to anyone can be really disheartening. It can leave you feeling upset, and inferior at times. We have all been there though, and have felt those feelings of comparison, especially if you’re a new blogger.
I remember when I first started blogging, logging into WordPress and finding your feet and then seeing all of these amazing bloggers with tonnes of followers and professional content. The comparison for alot of us, really started there. As aspiring bloggers we want what others have, and what we don’t have. We forget to see what’s in-front of us. Yes, it might not be as many followers, likes or comments as others but they are not us.
For todays post I want to share some of the things I do, when I find myself comparing myself to other bloggers. I hope you find it helpful!
REMEMBERING WHY I STARTED
Blogging comparison can really warp your way of thinking, and make you forget why you started blogging in the first place. Refocusing and rediscovering why you started blogging can really help to put things into perspective. I find that when I am in a bubble of comparison, I remind myself where I started. And how I have evolved as a blogger and writer throughout my blogging journey.
I didn’t start blogging to become the next biggest world blogger or to make money from my blog. I started blogging as a way of an escape, and a distraction from what was going on in the world. The followers, views and comments just come with time as you naturally progress as a blogger. Remembering why you started can bring you back to earth and really humble you again.
Don’t forget why you started.

MY JOURNEY IS MY JOURNEY
Comparing ourselves to other bloggers can often make us forget about our own journey. It can make us forget about our why, and can lead to us worrying about stats and being inferior to other creators out there. Your blogging journey is individual to you. No two bloggers will ever have the same success or timeline as each other. I might grow slower than other bloggers. And you might grow faster than me, and thats just the way it is. There is often no rhyme or reason for it.
Everybody is on their own path. Just because someone else gets more views than you doesn’t mean you are liked less. It just means you are on a different journey to them. Blogging comparison can really mess with your head, believe me. I have been there. Remember to focus on your journey and what you are doing. If you are preoccupied by other bloggers, you will end up neglecting all of the hard work you have put into your blog already.

NOBODY ELSE IS ME
You know you have a special power that nobody else has? Do you know what it is? Your special power is that nobody else is you, and no matter how hard they try they won’t ever be you. Do you know how amazing that is? Do you know the power you have in that? Your audience comes back to your blog time and time again because of you. They love you for the way you write, and the topics you choose to share.
Your power is that nobody else can ever be you. And you can’t be anybody else either. Use that knowledge to become the best version of yourself.

SEE EVERYBODY ELSE AS INSPIRATION
Is there a particular blogger you compare yourself to? Use that blogger as motivation and inspiration to get where they are. When I was a new blogger, I remember seeing so many accounts with thousands of followers and thinking “Wow, I want to be there one day.” I let their success become inspiration for my own success. I let it motivate me to work hard like they do, and get where I want to be.
Always remember though, there is a fine line between inspiration and imitation. Just because someone is doing well using their own strategy, doesn’t mean that it will work for you. Remember not to ever copy others work and think that will get you to the top.
Don’t let comparison cloud your path. Don’t let comparison make you jealous and envious of other bloggers. I have said this so many times before, but there is no place for jealousy and envy in the blogging world. If my blog is growing, then you’re on this journey with me and vice versa. We are a team, were in this together.

This is really encouraging. It’s so easy to fall into the trap of comparison, but all of our journeys are different and we’re all here as a community, to inspire and grow.
Thanks for sharing.💗
You’re so right Joanne. Its natural and normal to compare ourself to others, but its important we don’t let it consume us and make us feel inferior. 🤍
Exactly.😊

Thank you so much!
Truly important post! I think people often get so caught up in the stats game they forget why they started on this journey. This post is a beautiful reminder. 🙂
I think we all do at some point! But we must remember our WHY!
Wonderful post Oluvia! Great points to all bloggers 😀
Thank you friend!
Fabulous post, I often have to reassess the reason why I started – still get the occasional bout of imposter syndrome

You are very welcome.
Thanks for this, as a new blogger it’s definitely hard to find your place but couldn’t agree more about looking at others success as a means to inspire and motivate you!
You can do this! Happy to help if you need it!

Thanks so much for reading Biren!
It is so easy to fall in the trap of comparison in the blogging world because everything is so visible to us. We definitely have to remember why we started & that our audience comes to our blog for a reason! 😊💛
You’re so right Sarah! 🙂
Thanks for sharing! My main focus has always just been on writing about things I enjoy to write about. I created my blog to have an outlet after I lost my job last year and it’s something that has kept me busy and really helped me mentally and emotionally. So I never focus on the stats game, I’m always just focused on how much it’s helping me on a personal level. Plus, I don’t necessarily have a ‘niche’ which was always my panic at the beginning. Everyone always says you NEED a niche but I eventually realised I’m just vibing writing about things that I want to write about and that’s fine too 🥰
I do find myself comparing myself to other bloggers especially when I starting thinking about numbers. However reading content like this helps get me out of that loop and reminds me that I have my own journey. Thanks for this post Olivia.
Great tips! I particularly like and agree with your last point, seeing others as inspiration, feeling motivated from what they have achieved and try our best to improve being true to our own ideas and style.
Loved this article. Great content.
There is a difference between imitation and inspiration. Wonderful! Your post is an inspiration.
