I know I can’t be alone in feeling sometimes like I’m at a standstill in life. There have been several times in my twenties that I have felt like that. I think honestly, alot of it is to do with comparison. Comparing where you are in life to where others are. And I am not about that life anymore. I don’t want to compare myself to others journeys. Life is not a race, and I have to constantly remind myself of that. Waiting and feeling like you’re at a standstill in life can be really hard. I have been there, and I am there.
Every couple of years I feel like my priorities change, and I start to want more or different from life. Which then leads me to try and achieve those goals. When they don’t happen in my timescale, I feel like I have failed or I am just waiting for something that might never happen. It can be hard and discouraging.
For todays post, I want to share some truths about being at a standstill in life. And share my thoughts on something that is happening right now in my life and so many others.
WAITING DOESN’T MEAN IT WON’T EVER HAPPEN
At times when you are waiting for what feels like the impossible, you can feel like your time won’t ever come. Whether it’s waiting for a promotion at work, to find your soulmate or even to have a baby. When you are in the season of waiting, it can feel like it takes years and years. And it might even be that long. But just because you are waiting, doesn’t mean it wont ever happen.
I have to constantly remind myself this, but also remember to be realistic. I know that I won’t have everything my heart desires, and honestly I am okay with that. Being a Christian means that I believe in faith. That everything that is meant for me, will find me. God will make a way. And that brings me so much peace.

BEING AT A STANDSTILL MEANS YOU HAVE TIME TO REFLECT
I remember praying and asking God for guidance for certain things I have right now. Reflection is such a good perspective to have. Think back to years ago when you wanted/prayed for what you have now? Back then you probably didn’t think it would happen either. And here you are living what you dreamed of. What an amazing thing to think about.
There have been times when I have been in jobs that I just wanted to get out of. And I remember waiting a whole year for an opportunity to leave. It felt like an eternity, but here I am today. Happy and content in a job I love getting up for. Back then, this is what I prayed would happen. And here I am living it. How amazing is that.
Only ever look back to see how far you have come.

IT’S YOUR JOB TO BE PRODUCTIVE TOO
The things we want in life won’t just fall into our laps. You want to find a partner? Well you won’t find one being in your house 24/7 and not socialising. Go out there and make it happen. You want a new job? Well don’t expect your phone to just ring one day with an offer for your dream job. Start applying.
For the longest time I had this mentality. I won’t ever get what I want from life by going after it myself, it will come to me when it’s time. Yes, sometimes thats the case. But you have to remember that it’s up to you aswell. Opportunities are always available to us, as long as we go out there to find them. Be productive with your time and go out there to achieve your hopes and dreams. Even if you are at a standstill in life. Taking that initial step could be what changes things for you.

IT WON’T ALWAYS BE LIKE THIS
One thing to remember when you’re at a standstill in life, is that it won’t always be like this. You won’t always be waiting for things to happen. But you have to remember to be content in whatever life stage you’re at. And know that something great is around the corner, even if something bad comes first. It won’t always be how you expected it or thought it would turn out. But everything happens for a reason. You won’t always feel like this.
I am speaking from experience here. It won’t always feel like you’re stuck and not where you want to be. But when you get there, remember to be thankful for the journey. Because often, you learn so much about yourself through the process.

Do you feel like you’re at a standstill in life? I do sometimes, often actually. It’s about how we handle the situation, and what we do to help ourselves that counts. It can make or break us.
Sharing this is personal for me. Because I have felt like I’ve been at a standstill in my life so often the last few years. And it can be frustrating and scary, but you will get through it. Just remember everything I said.

Yes I have been there, but I tend to call it something else, In Between My Time! 🙂
I remember feeling that way in the past. Now I realize life doesn’t always have to be constantly moving forward at breakneck pace. It’s important to enjoy the here and now, or you may find you’ve missed out on many things that matter in life.
I feel like I need a little bit of a standstill. Life Post-covid is going back to how it use to be. Fast. Too damn fast
Yes totally agree- enjoy the standstill, mAke it a time to reflect and plan for the future too. Life will be up and down, use each moment wisely ❤️
I go through bouts of this every now and then and it’s always good to hold on to the fact that you can get through it and that sometimes it’s a mindset shift that’s needed. I appreciate how informative and encouraging this post is — thanks for sharing your experiences.
I feel that way lately. I never did because I was always busy. Having a family of five children, hubby, father-in-law and a dog I found I had no time to sit and wonder what was next. And then we became empty nesters….I still worked but then 4 years ago I retired. Hubby is a homebody but I love being on the go. So I picked myself up, and made things happen. Today I go out with friends, have lost 50 lbs, own my own business and the grandchildren also keep me busy. Think I am at the right step in my life.
I can relate to this. I’ve been feeling like I’m at stand still these last few months. I feel like I’m moving aimlessly at times, trying to find my rhythm.
One day at a time for sure. Its definitely tough waiting for things to happen but sometimes that can give you the time you need to reflect and figure out what you actually want and where you actually are in life Xoxo
This has helped me to realise that we don’t always have to be doing something and should be making most of the standstills while we can. Thank you!
