3 Achievable Blogging Goals for New Bloggers

I remember when I first started blogging, I had all of these (what I thought) were achievable blogging goals and aspirations of being the next rising blogging star. Now there is nothing wrong with having those goals when you’re a new blogger. In fact having goals and setting milestone markers is something I encourage new bloggers to do. The issue I had, was that my goals were not achievable. Not instantly anyway.

It’s a common theme with alot of writers. Reaching for the stars is great, but there are steps you have to complete before you reach that. And thats exactly why I’m sharing this advice today.

Whenever I write posts about new bloggers or give advice, I’m honestly preaching to myself. I wish I had posts like these when I first started. It would have stopped so many silly blogging mistakes I made when I first started. So enough of the intro, lets get into why you’re really here!

HIT 100 FOLLOWERS

One of the best achievable blogging goals for us to start with is reaching your first 100 followers. I know it can seem very daunting and such a big milestone to reach, especially if you just started. But having that goal in mind is a really good motivator. This goal isn’t too big that its unattainable and isn’t too small that you’ll hit it in a week.

When I first started growing my blog, every 100 followers was a milestone for me. I was always wanting to reach that next number. And honestly, I still do it now too.

WRITE YOUR FIRST 10 BLOG POSTS

The first couple blog posts really set the tone of your blog. And its also a great chance for you to showcase who you are and your work. Choose your content wisely, but have fun with it too. Once you have published your first 10 blog posts, it will give you a great idea of what content you want to focus on and also you will start to get an idea of what your audience enjoys.

Remember that blogging is as much about what you enjoy posting as it is what your audience likes reading. Finding that balance is important.

Publishing your first 10 blog posts is one the easiest achievable blogging goals you can do. You just need to put pen to paper – or fingers to keyboard in this case!

NETWORK AND MAKE YOUR FIRST BLOGGING FRIEND

Something I’m sure you never considered when you signed up to your chosen blogging site was the idea of making friends. I know I didn’t! Just like most things in life, making friends has to be organic. It cant be forced or rushed. If they’re apart of your team, they will gravitate towards you.

Networking and making friends as a blogger is something I encourage you to do. Having that support system around you is really something beautiful and magical. You’ll need them more than you realise.

If you need your first blogging friend, I can be that for you! My email and comment sections are always open to you!

  2. Great post! I wish I had seen this when I started blogging 🤣. I’ve only started to realise in the posts few months that it’s good to be social. I just assumed when I started writing the likes would flow in but it just doesn’t work that way. I’m actually really enjoying blogging more now that I’m making friends and learning what others have to say. I wrote a blog about some tips for new bloggers if any one wants to see 🤗

    1. This is exactly the mentality that I had when I first started blogging! It wasn’t until I started branching out that my blog took off! Proving once again that blogging friends and community is important!

  3. I think one of the cliche tips is to be consistent, and new bloggers really should adhere to a consistent blogging schedule, be it weekly or fortnightly or whatever. Not only does it build your own blogging discipline, but it also helps you look more favourable in the various platforms’ eyes. Anyway, thanks for this post, Olivia!

  5. As always, a generous and informative post. And you’re right about making friends, I don’t have that many followers but I I’ve learned so much about people in different countries and cultures from the ones I do have and the one’s I follow.

  6. Such great advice! Just started blogging a month or so ago and was started to get discouraged, because there was no activity, but just did a new blog yesterday and gained a new follower, so I appreciate the encouraging advice!

  7. Decide what your categories are and use them. Once you build up enough content, you can use your categories to create pages on your home page. I didn’t do that right away. So, I had a lot of uncategorized posts to work through.
