3 Things I’ll Be Doing Differently In 2023

2023 is quite literally around the corner. And with a new year comes new years resolutions. I previously wrote about how I don’t believe in new years resolutions, and that notion still stands. However, I am always looking at ways to improve my life throughout the year. And as we’re going into a new year, there are a few things I want to do differently.

Choosing to not label these goals as resolutions takes the pressure off of yourself. I want to start achieving these goals now, I’m not waiting for the clock to strike 12am on new years day to get started. The same goes for you. You don’t need to wait for a new week, or even a new day! Start right now!

Here are 4 things I’ll be doing differently in 2023!

PUTTING MYSELF FIRST

Something I have really been trying to work on is how to put myself first. Naturally we are the centre of our own lives. But, I think we often forget how important we are to our own story. We put others needs and wants before our own, sometimes without even realising it.

In 2023 I have decided that I’m going to prioritise myself before anybody else. Setting boundaries and having a clear rules on what I will and won’t tolerate from others. Saying no more often and not feeling bad about it.

Taking time for self care, and looking after myself aswell. We can’t live our full potential if we aren’t caring for ourselves physically, emotionally and spiritually.

LOOKING AFTER MY MIND AND BODY

Over the last few years I have been on a health journey. I documented my weightless and my journey to a healthier me. It was the best time of my life. After a back injury after my half marathon run, I had to stop exercising. Mainly because I physically couldn’t do it anymore. After stopping exercise I realised how quickly I got back into old habits. I thought that me was gone, but she reared her ugly head once again.

Now my back is thankfully better, I have started prioritising being healthy and exercise once again. And it’s an amazing feeling. Nothing beats seeing your body changing and your hard work paying off. I won’t ever take that feeling for granted again.

ORGANISING MY FINANCES

I don’t know about anywhere else in the world but here in the UK there is a major cost of living crisis. People are having to choose between heating their homes and eating food. It’s honestly heart breaking. So, in 2023 I want to make sure I am managing my money better. I have always been good at saving and budgeting, but I need to prioritise having money in savings accounts incase of emergencies. Something I have already started doing is using savings calculators and financial planners.

Having a clear plan and budget for the year is something we should all be doing. Using a financial planner like Calulator.me is the best way. As its all already done for you!

Like I said at the beginning. You don’t need a new year to make new changes. Start them now!

  1. I love all of this, Olivia! I wasn’t a saver or good with money either, until I met my husband and he paid everything as soon as a bill came in (to a fault), as it raises his blood pressure. Ugh! But we have the best credit now! And this last year I started saving!! I use Credit Karma as means to keep our accounts and credit score top of mind and THAT has worked for me! Now, since hubby’s stroke, I manage all the bills and it takes some of the pressure off him (he still worries when we are overbilled things, but life isn’t perfect).
Great ideas for you and many of us for 2023! I sure hope folks in the UK stay warm and fed this winter (and yay for your back healing)!

    1. Honestly, sometimes it takes someone else showing you the ropes for you to then take the ropes yourself! So happy for you!

And thank you! It looks like its going to be cold this winter, so we’re all trying our best!

      Best wishes to you!

  2. I’m going to invest more in self care (having a skin & hair care routine, taking myself on more solo dates, talking to myself more) stuff like that. And definitely get better at saving 😭 that’s a big problem

  3. Amazing post. I want to also focus on myself in 2023. Say no more often and just go after my dreams without thinking what the society might think of me. Thank you for this.
