This is a contributed post.
1. BEGIN WITH THE ENTRYWAY
Focus on the entryway or hallway and make sure your home feels cosy and inviting from the moment you step foot in it. Paint your door an attractive colour and place out small pieces of furniture that you can decorate with eye-catching items and fresh flowers. Also, consider painting your entryway a neutral hue that makes your home look bright and welcoming in the daytime and evening hours. Spend some time picking out and installing an artsy and stunning main fixture that can act as the focal point as well. The entryway is your chance to make a great first impression and set the tone for all that’s yet to come.
2. DRESS UP YOUR WINDOWS
Pay attention to your windows if you want to create a cosier and more inviting home. Dress them up and add privacy with halfpriceblinds.com.au. These blinds will not only enhance the look of your home but will help you control the temperature and light you let in as well. If you want to include more texture and a pop of colour then you can also choose to hang curtains on your windows. Hang them high so that your ceilings look taller and your rooms appear more elegant.
3. FIT NEW CARPETS AND ADD AREA RUGS
Another update to create a cosier and more inviting home is to install new carpet and place down some area rugs. It’s especially important to rip out old carpet if it’s stained or worn out and if the colour has faded. New carpet and some colourful area rugs will add warmth and make your rooms feel homey and comfortable. If you have hard flooring in some areas then it’s wise to place area rugs down in these rooms as well. Also, include some fluffy pillows and throws in your living areas as additional ways to feel cosier in your spaces.
4. IMPROVE YOUR LIGHTING
Create a cosier and more inviting home by improving the lighting throughout your property. Enhance the lighting inside and out and you’ll find your home is brighter and looks more modern. Start by replacing old and dingy light covers and dated fixtures and then install new lighting in areas that are dark and could use some brightening up. Also, place a few lights such as those over the mantel or fireplace on a dimmer switch to help you set the right mood. Include lamps and candles throughout your home as well which is a great way to make your property both cosy and inviting.
These are all great suggestions! Sadly I cannot customize fully my house – as I live with other people – but I’m definitely working on my own private room. It’s always a work in progress and I’m never really happy with the result. Also, mistakes were made where I got black fornitures instead of white ones. But now I’m definitely working on fixing said mistakes
You can certainly make your own space yours!
I love these suggestions. We recently remodeled our home and it’s amazing at how much cozier everything feels.
Honestly, the saying that the people make a house a home is so true. We put our own special touch on things dont we 🙂
