We’ve all been there before, a beginner blogger searching out for blogging tips to help us get started. Blogging can be confusing, even stressful when you first start out. Especially if you are planning on making your blog your career and maybe one day your sole income.
There is a plethora of blogging tips out there on the internet. But, one thing I found when I was new, was listening and taking advice from other bloggers over anybody else. Anybody can write tips to give advice to bloggers, but when it comes directly from those who have the learnt experience, I have found it much more valuable.
So lets start with tip number one…
1. CONNECT WITH OTHER BLOGGERS
Something very very important as a blogger (not just if you’re a beginner) is making connections with other bloggers early on. The community you will create will become so valuable to you down the line because as I said in the intro, you’d rather got to other bloggers when you need help or advice than anybody else. I’ve lent on so many other bloggers in the last couple of years when it comes to my blog. I’d be lost without the friends and connections I have made over the years.

2. UTILISE THE RESOURCES AROUND YOU
One of the biggest blogging tips I can share with you is to really utilise the resources you have readily available for you. If you don’t have the time to take your own blogging pictures use free stock images. If you don’t have time to create the most amazing online content, use Canva. I could go on and on.
There are so many different platforms and outlets available to use if only we looked for them and utilised them as we should.
3. SOCIAL MEDIA IS YOUR BEST FRIEND, USE IT!
Social media will become your best friend and probably worst enemy. Some bloggers say that Instagram works wonders for their blog, me personally it did nothing for mine. And thats okay. The websites I personally love to use are:
- Twitter – Such a great platform for getting your links out regularly. If you have Twitter desktop you can schedule tweets in advance, which is always handy!
- Pinterest – Once you have Pinterest down, it can be so good in getting clicks to your site. And even better if you’re trying to sell something!
- Online Blog directories – My favourite Blog directory is called the MK Blog Directory and it’s a website that houses hundreds of wonderful blogs for you to browse and look at. It’s basically a one stop shop for all things blogs. Its free to add your website to it!
4. PUT A PLAN IN PLACE
When you first start blogging it’s really important to make sure you have a blogging schedule in place. Even if you plan on posting once a month, make sure you’re consistent with it. Anything done with consistency will last and will gain the traction that you need when you first start out.

5. SET YOUR EXPECTATIONS
Alot of people come into the blogging world or even the social media world and expect to be an overnight sensation. It does happen, but not for everybody. Growing a following and an audience that trusts you takes time.
Setting your expectations is also setting yourself up for success.
6. SLOW AND STEADY IS A GOOD THING
Have you ever heard the phrase “Slow and steady wins the race.” Well, its true. Start slow and small and gradually build your blog into what you want it to be. If you want it to be big and amazing, take your time. There is no rush!
7. DON’T GET ADDICTED TO THE NUMBERS
A blogging tip I wish I had heard sooner. Now a days I don’t get caught up in the numbers but it’s so easy to get sucked into it. I’ve gone through times where it’s all I focused on. For some reason we have it in our heads that if the numbers higher we are greater or more important. And that is not the case at all.
If one person reads your content and gets inspired, thats one more person than before. You don’t need to reach the thousands to become successful.

8. BRANDING IS IMPORTANT
If you’re wanting to create a professional blog, make sure you get started on your branding early on. You may change it down the line but having a blog that looks clean and consistent is great for potential brands that may want to work with you.
Create a catchy and clean logo and use it across your blog.
9. BE PREPARED TO SPEND MONEY
Sometimes before you can make money you have to spend it. I remember my first investment into my blog, it was exciting but also terrifying at the same time. It wasn’t for a few months after I’d start making money. So be prepared to spend spend before you make it back.
10. ENJOY IT!
The most important blogging tip of them all, enjoy yourself! I’ve shared some important tips today on blogging. They can be alot to take in. So, if you take anything away from this post, remember this. Always remember why you decided to start a blog. What is your why? Hold onto it. And when you feel defeated, or feel like giving up with writing, remember your why.
I wish I had learned more about images. My first few posts didn’t have any images. Then my images were the wrong size. And I knew nothing about Alt text. After a few months, I had a lot of work to do to fix and upload new images.
I know how you feel! I did the same with SEO. I had to go back and sort out about 100 posts! So time consuming
Oh yes, SEO too! Let’s face it, we all learned many things about blogging the hard way. 😂
100% we did 🤣
They are all so useful!
