How I’m Learning To Be More Grateful In Life

How I’m Learning To Be More Grateful In Life

It can be really hard when you suffer from a mental illness to see the brighter side of life. Your thoughts consume you and you feel hopeless. Whenever I feel this way, I try to remind myself of the good I have in this world. I remind myself of the things that bring me and joy and make me happy. I do this exercise as a reminder to my brain that things are better than I think they are.

I read a book that a therapist wrote a few years ago when I was at my lowest mentally, and it gave this really good learning technique. It was saying out loud to yourself that you acknowledge your feelings. This triggers something in your brain so that you recognise that it is just thoughts, it’s not real or present. Doing this exercise and saying out loud the good things you have in life can help in the same way. It’s like you’re talking to a friend or a family member, reminding them everything will be okay. But instead you are talking to yourself.

What Equipment I Use For Blogging – 2015 vs 2020

So much has changed in the 5 years this site has been active. Back in 2015 WordPress was so much different, and the whole blogging world was seen as so much different too. AAlotlot has changed with the internet & so many other things surrounding blogging. Even my writing style and my blog content has changed so much since then.

4 Ways To Practice Self-Compassion

4 Ways To Practice Self-Compassion

I almost feel like I’m unintentionally doing a mini series with all of my self-love, self-confidence and self-acceptance posts. I think its so important in the current climate that we are kind to ourselves and show ourselves love. Society and ourselves put pressure on us to be a certain way, and when we don’t fit that mould we aren’t seen as worthy enough, which is of course not true. I had never heard of the phrase self-compassion until a few days ago, so decided to do my own research and then extend what I have learnt to here on my blog.

Why Long Distance Friendships Are Worth It

Why Long Distance Friendships Are Worth It

For most of my adult life I have had long distance friendships. Me and my friends maintain a pretty regular friendship with 4,000+ miles between us. We met when they came here to the UK from America. They came here for a semester (around 4 months) to study and work at the church I attend. Long distance friendships, similar to long distance relationships can be hard to maintain but I’m here today to tell you why they are so worth it.

Advice For Starting a New Job During Covid

Advice For Starting a New Job During Covid

I’ve been working from home now since the 17th March this year. Thats almost 7 months of my home being work, and work being at my home. It was a weird transition at first but one I have come to appreciate. I get an extra 2 hours in bed, I don’t have to do a commute, finishing work doesn’t involve a train journey home. There are so many benefits, but with anything there are downsides too. The lack of social interaction with colleagues, not having a break between home life and work life, feeling like I must be available 24/7. But please know I am so grateful. Grateful that I have been able to work all throughout this pandemic, and that my job is secure.

MY INSECURITIES

Looking smaller than my age has always been an insecurity of mine. Most of my friends are either taller than me or have bigger bodies than mine. But recently, I have come to notice that most people actually look smaller than their ages but the only reason this disturbed me was because the people I surrounded myself with, never stopped to remind me of my size. Of course this wasn’t said to me directly, it was rather an indirect reference. The funny part about it, is that they weren’t even my friends just acquaintances.

5 Ways To Be Productive On Rainy Days

5 Ways To Be Productive On Rainy Days

Do you like rainy days? I like them in moderation, especially if I don’t need to go anywhere that day! Sometimes it can feel so hard to be productive on rainy days. I just want to curl up in a blanket with a movie and not move all day. I always find it hard getting up in the morning too and making sure the day is productive. So today I thought I’d share some ways we can all become more productive, especially on those dark, rainy gloomy days.

4 Tasty Meat Free Meal Ideas

4 Tasty Meat Free Meal Ideas

Not many of you will know this about me but I’m vegetarian. I have been for 5 years now and it was probably the best thing I ever did. A little background on why I became vegetarian is probably needed here. I love animals plain and simple. Me and my best friend embarked on this journey together and it started out by me having meat free days. I’d do this every other day and only eat fish or no meat at all. For the first year or so I was a pescatarian which means I only ate fish. It actually took me a couple tries to stop eating fish but finally did it and I have not turned back since.
