I would still consider myself a newbie at blogging and a newbie at using Pinterest. Back in 2015 when I first launched this blog I had no idea what I was doing (I still don’t). Everyday I learn a new thing, whether thats from my own research or learning from other bloggers. One thing I have learned to utilise is Pintrest. I didn’t even give it a second thought on how it could help grow my blog. But it makes sense now I understand.
In this blog post I aim to share my little bit of knowledge on how to use Pintrest to help your blog grow. So let’s get started!
Switch to a Business Account
I guess the first tip is to actually create a Pinterest account if you haven’t already. Once you do that, there’s an option to switch to a business account. I did this recently and it helps to see your analytics and delve deeper into seeing how your boards and pins are being received by your audience. It also helps you to look back at how previous content has done. It’s a great learning exercise to see how content has or hasn’t worked. This feature is 100% free of charge.
Create Boards Related to Your Content
Having an organised Pintrest page is really important. Think about it from the opposite side, when you go onto a website or even Pintrest and everything is all over the place, its off putting isn’t it? We want to drive people to be interested in clicking onto your content. So creating specific boards related to your blog topics and adding relevant pins is really helpful to keep everything organised and in place. It also helps your audience to easily find things they are interested in.
Promote Your Pins Through Ads
This is only something I have recently looked into. Pintrest has an option where you can pay a small or large fee to create ads to reach more people. Which in turn encourages readers to click onto your blog. They are very flexible in letting you choose how much you want to spend on your ad. I’m guessing the more you spend the better engagement you get from it. You can choose anywhere between £1 a day to £1,000 a day, and choose duration times from 2 days to 30 days. Every ad is subject to being reviewed before it is published. This is due to some restrictions that Pintrest has with advertising.

Pin Consistently
Consistently adding new content onto your Pinterest will help keep your viewers interested. Always remember to not overwhelm your audience with too many posts. Having a schedule of when you will be adding new content is helpful. I always post a new pin every time a new blog post goes live. So my Pintrest content is in line with my blog content. Pinning new content doesn’t even have to mean adding your own content, it could be pinning others content to your boards. Which is a great way to help others out too.
Create Professional Looking Content
With the content you create to advertise your blogs, remember it needs to stand out and make the viewer want to click onto your blog to find out more. Often I use a mixture of my own images and stock images to create my content. I think it’s important that the content looks professional in order to attract more viewers.I tend to create content for my pinterest and Instagram at the same time using an app called Unfold. I talked about this in a recent post here. It’s such a great tool to use and does half of the work for you. All you have to do is pick a template.
I hope this was helpful. Its really helped increase the traffic on my blog in the last few weeks.
This is something very new! Had no clue Pinterest can help in creating traffic for my blog. Thankyou so much. Will right now install Pinterest and work on it!

Thanks for the useful info Olivia. I get a few more views of my WordPress blog if I pin 1 or sometimes 2 pics from it. The idea of creating new Pinterest boards for common blog themes is a good idea.

I’ve been using Pinterest 5 years or more but I didn’t give importance to it. I just did it for fun. Maybe I should attend to it to make use some interesting materials from it. Great information !

I guess my question is when it comes to utilizing Pinterest for your blog…. do i want to pin my posts or do i want to create an entirely new pin that links to my posts? Or does it not matter?

Typically you would need to create a new pin and then link the pin to your blog post😊
