Olivia, how do I increase traffic to my website? Well Anonymous 12625, I honestly have no idea. And that is usually how my conversations with people go, because I actually really don’t know.
There are so many variables as to how you grow your website and increase traffic. Thats why I wanted to create the 30 day blogging strategy so much. It has so many tips and tricks for you to use and actually makes you put in the hard work to achieve your goals. Growing your blog is not black and white and actually takes so much work. Its not as easy as me sharing a secret and your blog then growing at a fast pace. Sometimes grow is slow and not noticeable at first, and thats just the way it goes.
One thing I do enjoy doing though is providing insight and advice to other bloggers. I don’t ever want to show you what you need to do (although I’m sure there are people out there who would have me do it for them). Nobody can grow your blog for you, but you can. I love sharing tips and tricks that nobody else will share. It makes me so happy knowing that I have helped others on their blogging journeys.
In todays post I’m sharing some tips I have learnt from blogging. Specifically on how to increase blog traffic, because blog traffic is good. We love blog traffic. In this post I not only share how to create clickable blog post content, but I also share some ideas. Please feel free to use any of them that I have mentioned! Let’s get started.
HOW TO POSTS
One of the main things to do, in order to entice people into clicking on your posts, is make them feel as though they will get something out of it from clicking. Let them know in the title that there is information that they want. How to posts are a great way to get people to come to your site. A few examples could be:
– How to Bake the Perfect Brownie
– How to Get Through the Pandemic
– How to Love Yourself More
– How to Overcome Anger
– How to Write the Perfect Blog Post
You get the idea, right? An example of this would also be a post I did recently called ‘How to Blog When You’ve Hit a Wall‘. All the people struggling to blog will be flicking through google or the WordPress reader will see that post and think YES thats me. Tell me how you can help me. Be sure to include something in there that alot of people can relate to.
ADVICE POSTS
Advice posts always go down a treat in my opinion. Whether you’re sharing how you got clear skin in a month or how you grew your blog, they are always welcomed. I know from personal experience that when I share advice and tips my readers always really appreciate it. Kind of like this post! I’m sure it will be beneficial to those that need the help. Some example posts could include:
– A Guide on How I Grew my Blog in 2 Months
– Simple Recipes That Helped Me Lose Weight
– How I Balance Life Around Blogging
– Tips on How to Overcome Anxiety
– The Best Chocolate Cake Recipe on the Internet
Again, we should always consider the need to make the titles interesting and clickable. Always emphasise on something you know your readers would enjoy.
NUMBERS POSTS
Numbers posts are one of the best kind to help increase traffic to your blog. A numbers posts (I just made this name up) is basically when you include a number on the title. So ‘5 Ways to Slim Down This Summer’ as an example. You are being direct and setting the readers expectations on what they will see when they read the post. Knowing there are 5 tips waiting for me to read really makes me want to click on posts.
Some examples could include:
– 3 Ways I Grew my Blog Following
– 7 Tips For Stay at Home Parents
– 5 Things You Can Do To Improve Your Mood
– 10 Acts of Kindness Ideas
– 6 of My Favourite Recipes
You could even combine some of the other types of posts. You could combine a numbers post with a How to post – 5 Ways How to Improve Your Mood. See, it’s so easy once you get the hang of it. Just make sure that your post titles aren’t too long. Having short, snappy post titles helps you rank higher for SEO and also makes your posts look more appealing to readers.
What did you learn from todays post that you didn’t already know? Do you use numbers and how to’s in your post titles?
There is so much more I could have said on this topic. It really is such a huge part of writing blog posts and something I wish I had known earlier in my blogging career. But none the less I hope you have found this post helpful!
This is so amazing… can’t wait to put them into practice. Thank you ❤️

Hi there! So glad you find my blogs helpful.
I’m not sure what you mean by do now? Do you mean what do you do now you’ve connected to Instagram? Theres many things you can do. You should share your blog posts to Instagram, you should add your blog link into your Instagram bio. I have a post that shares how I use Instagram for blogging here – https://olivialucieblake.com/2020/10/30/the-benefits-ive-seen-by-using-instagram-for-blogging/

Very insightful post. I actually just put out a “How to” post today. That wasn’t the original title. Right before I scheduled it, I felt like it needy a more catchy sound and I knew how to would do it. I need to add more of the numbers type post to my site. Thanks again for the great tips!

Informative as always. I think I use a combo of all types of styles – how tos, advice, and numbers. I realize that I don’t do much of the numbers enough. Thanks for sharing.

Yes! A combination of all is a recipe of success!

That’s great advice, but it’s hard to use them titles on a blog that shares lessons or empathy through poetry or stories or fiction.

For sure! This advice can’t and doesn’t apply for everyone out there. I think it would be impossible to write a post that everyone can relate to! 😄

Yeah, I guess that was a subconscious and veiled plea for that kind of blog. I never ever see that type.
Anyway, this is a great and informative post otherwise 🙏🏾👌🏾

I’m so glad you’re honest about there not being a “magic potion” to growth. So many others make it seem like if we follow their plan exactly, our blog will magically grow overnight. Your honesty is refreshing and something every blogger needs to hear and remember.
Numbers posts are easier for me to do than how to, though I do often mix the numbers and advice posts together.

I always like to reminder readers that it won’t just happen overnight. Its selling a lie honestly. Growing a blog and becoming successful takes hard work and determination. I’ll always scream that from the roof tops!
