The Best Way to Bulk Write Your Blog Content

When I first started blogging I had no idea what it was to bulk write content. I tended to just write as I went and even sometimes write my posts on the day before posting. Bulk writing was something I looked into months down the line and its the strategy and way I have been creating content for my blog for months now. As bloggers I feel like we are pressed for time alot. We have another things to do on our lists. And actually writing only equates to about 30% of what we do behind the scenes. Writing obviously plays a big part in our websites, but time is usually not on our side. I don’t have time to sit and write posts every single day, especially as I work full time around my blog.

I have spoken about how I bulk write posts on my blog before, but thought I would go into a bit more detail for you today. It’s really helped me be so much more productive.

FINDING TIME TO WRITE

The main reason why I decided to start bulk writing was because of time. I didn’t have time to write everyday around all the other things going on in my life. I work a full time job, and run a blog full time too. Writing is of course a major part of owning a blog. If we don’t write, we don’t have content.

Something I learnt very quickly in the blogging world is that content moves on quite quickly. Something that is fun and really popular one week, probably won’t be the next. So I found that writing and posting more often on my site, meant that my growth was quicker. Which is why I decided to start bulk writing my posts.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BULK WRITE?

Bulk writing is really easy and straightforward. It’s what it says, writing posts in a large quantity (bulk). Typically I write my posts all in the free time I have. Whether it’s an hour, or an afternoon. I try to plan and schedule all of my content for the week. There have been times when I have failed to plan, and its meant I have to write and post on the same day. But I really don’t like the pressure, I feel like I’m rushing. Which is another reason why bulk writing is beneficial.

Typically I do this at the weekend, usually Sunday afternoons as thats my down time. I will sit at my computer and scroll through my draft post ideas and begin writing. When I get into the swing of it, there’s really no stopping me. I can go on for hours and hours, creating new content for the week ahead. Usually in this time, I also do all of my other content writing. Like scheduling tweets etc.

HOW CAN I BULK WRITE?

Find some time in your week that you have a couple of hours free. Set that time aside and begin writing. Keep going for as long as you can, and really get on-top of the work week ahead. I really find that I am so much more productive with my time when I do it this way. I don’t know if it’s the kind of person I am, but it allows me to spend time in the week doing other blogging tasks.

Throughout the week when I’m not writing, I am thinking up content post ideas. Often it’s hard to think of ideas on the spot, so be sure to jot down ideas you might have for when you have scheduled your writing time.

  1. Thanks for this advice Olivia – I kind of bulk write in the sense that every Sunday I write two blog posts and schedule them for the upcoming week. Great post Olivia! ❤

  2. I often bulk wrote too, I’m always handling loads of school assignments. In such cases, sticking to a blogging schedule and thinking about ideas becomes difficult. Great and insightful advice Olivia!

  3. I hadn’t thought of it this way, but I just recently moved 15 partial blog posts in Drafts in WordPress (over from my iPhone Notes app). As I have little bits of time, and the muse strikes to complete them, it will be easier to press Publish.
Thank you for this post! ❤️🦋🌀〰️

  4. This is something I’ve actually just recently started doing as well – I keep at least 2 unpublished “drafts” in my posts queue at all times that way, if I don’t have an idea I still have something ready to go. I’m still kind of playing with whether or not I want to publish 1 or 2 posts a week, but bulk writing definitely helps with that!

  5. This is a wonderful idea. I try to bulk write but I don’t always write down post ideas when they come up. Then I’m lost when it’s time to write. Gotta do better with that. Thanks for the post!

  6. This is great advice. I really dislike having to write and post on the same day. The pressure is too much. I definitely have to do better at bulk writing and noting down my post ideas throughout the week.

  7. Oh yeah, it really IS hard to think about topics when you really need to write them, and jotting down ideas as they come really is a better alternative. As a blogger and writer, a pen and notebook are essential! Great post!

  9. Yeah I need to start bulk writing, but like you say it can be hard to even do this! I need to start doing this though as I also work full time so definitely need to start being more diligent with my time! 💛

  10. I end up blogging daily or every other day as I took up vlogging too and work FT. Mine is a reality blog. I do a bit of bulk writing some though – in bullet fashion- while on the go for certain topics I’m thinking about or want to share. Then I either work it into a daily blog or a day when I’m feeling umph lol – and then I have content. Time is a challenge when you love to write and long to be creative.

  11. I 100% bulk write! And then I just schedule them out accordingly. I’ve also learned I can revamp a few old posts & reshare them like they are new. I don’t know why I’ll have those bursts of energy where I can write multiple posts at once but I take full advantage of that manic behavior (for lack of better words) hahaha it’s gotten me far!

  12. I started bulk writing content since last week and I wasn’t aware that I can do that! But to be honest, bulk writing is way better than on the spot writing because when I started bulk writing, I got into this whole swing and I was like going on and on with the content! Great post!
