I have realised that it’s been a while since I shared some random facts about me on my blog. It’s very rare that I share personal things about myself on here, and I really want to start doing it more often. Being a blogger can be hard sometimes, finding the fine line between inviting people into your life and oversharing. I am quite a private person, and only share private parts of my life with a select few. But, I want to get to know my audience (you!) better!
Todays post will be short and sweet, but hopefully a conversation starter for us all to get to know each other that little bit more!
I’M BRITISH AND I HATE DRINKING TEA
I have some overseas friends, some in the states and one friend who you know well Shelly. Whenever I tell my friends who are not from the UK that I am a British person who HATES drinking tea, I almost always shown a shocked face. A British person not liking tea? But its in your culture?! Yes, it might be. But it’s a hard no from me.
Actually, I don’t really drink any hot drinks regularly. I don’t drink coffee either. And most recently I have discovered I have an intolerance to cocoa powder and hot chocolate was the only hot drink I really had. The only hot drink I will occasionally have is a green tea but that is it. It’s funny because my siblings aren’t really big on drinking hot drinks either!

MY BIGGEST PET PEEVES
I have many pet peeves, but I thought I would share a couple with you. Some big, some small. One of the biggest is when people don’t change the toilet roll in the bathroom? You used the last bit, and you decided that you just didn’t care about anybody else? I really hate when people don’t replace things that are empty. For some reason I find it so inconsiderate. I know people forget and do it on accident, but if it happens alot. I start to wonder if they just don’t care about anybody else!
Another thing I hate are flaky people. And by that I mean, they say they will do something and they don’t. Or they find every excuse not to. I have had so many friendships end because of this. I have actually stopped getting my hopes up for things, just so I don’t get disappointed if they don’t happen. Which is sad, because you should always get excited to do fun things!

I’D RATHER STAY IN THAN GO OUT
Did you expect this one to be in this random facts about me post? Do I come across like I love partying and going out all the time? I’d be interested to know your thoughts. When I first turned 18 – 18 years old is the legal drinking age in the UK by the way. I really loved going out and partying every weekend. I had friends who would always be down to go out and get drunk with me. As I grew older, and the things I saw on my nights out I really changed my mind and slowly stopped going. I saw people get punched in the face, I had men touching me and leering over me who were double my age. Really I just noticed all of the awful people who would take advantage of drunk people. It’s really not a nice environment when you think about it.
I still go out for nice dinners and drinks with friends, but I’m usually home by 10am. No more staying out till the early hours. I feel safer and more content to be in my bed watching tv with my fave snacks and my dog.

I CUT MY EYE OPEN AS A CHILD
Most of you won’t know this one, hence why it’s a random fact. But I actually have a scar on my right eyelid from where I cut my eye open. I probably was only 4-5 years old but I still remember it happening. And I have my brother to blame. We were walking somewhere with my mom, and I remember I was walking on a wall. Learning how to balance properly I’m sure. The wall wasn’t too high! I then remember being pushed to the ground. I don’t remember how my eye got cut, but I remember it all happening. My brother still loves the fact that the scar on my face is from him – thats brothers for you!

I’VE VISITED THE USA 10 TIMES
Honestly, I see this one as a great achievement of mine. Ever since I was a child, I had always wanted to visit America. I guess watching loads of American reality tv shows like the Kardashians and my wife and kids made me want to visit. I then found myself having the opportunity to visit when I started making friends with some American students who attended my church. My church is lead by Americans who are missionaries. They have come to England and started several churches up and down the country.
I made my very first American friend from being at the church, and I am still best friends with her now. 9 years later! I go to the US multiple times a year to visit and thats why I have been so many times! I honestly have made so many wonderful memories going to visit her. And I hope to visit again soon once the boarders open for us again!
Have you ever been?

A different kind of post today, but a fun one sharing some random facts about me! I hope you enjoyed!
So I knew you hated tea and that made me laugh because I’m not British and have been drinking tea since before I was eating solid food 🤣
And I knew about your pet peeves from your previous post but I didn’t know about the others.. Although you don’t seem like a heavy partier.. I would peg you as being out every weekend ☺️
Always nice to read a bit about you Olivia 💛 thank you for sharing
Much rather stay at home and CHILL. 💁🏼♀️
how do keep the line? have you ever feel overshare your personal life when writing?
Nope I have never actually. If I feel like I want to share something personal, I often consult those around me to see if its something I should write about or not. Then I make a decision. I have nearly talked about alot of personal things on here, as I see this as an outlet. But ultimately, it wasn’t something I actually felt comfortable sharing.
It can take me a while to share something very personal. I have a post on here called ‘My best friends funeral was the first I ever attended’ That post took me almost 2 years to post. Just to put that into perspective!

It’s interesting that you don’t like hot drinks. My husband and one of my daughters are the same way. I love tea. When I first met my mother-in-law and she found out I was born in England, her first questions were “Do you like the Queen?” and “Do you drink tea?” LOL I think she was just happy to have someone to drink tea with and gossip about the royals!
Hahah thats so funny! I had no idea you were born here! Amazing. What part?
When I go to the states I have people ask me similar questions. A little kid once asked me if the Queen was my aunt haha
I was born in Lancashire. My sister still lives in the UK. She moved from Lancashire to the Isle of Wight a couple of years ago.
Oh wow! thats awesome. I don’t think I’ve ever actually been there before!
I haven’t either. I am looking forward to visiting her when we can travel again.
Flaky people bother me too!! It actually happened to me last week when we planned to go see an outdoor movie for two weeks in advance at least but then they all had excuses for why they couldn’t come or didn’t want to come. So I last minute asked my boyfriend to drive an hour to come see the movie with me (it only happens once a year) and he did because he knew how badly I wanted to see experience this outdoor movie.
I hate that happened, I am so sorry. I am glad that you had someone to go with though. And well done to the boyfriend for stepping up!
As introvert myself I don’t like going to much. It was great getting to know you better
I have my moments when I want to go out! But alot of the time I enjoy being home.
Awesome post! Now this makes me think what are the random thoughts about me)
🙂
Can we please normalise it being okay to prefer staying in rather than going out haha, thoroughly enjoyed reading this!
Right?! Why isn’t it a normal thing anyway 🤣
It’s lovely hearing some facts about you and getting to know you better! I’m from the UK too and I’m not the biggest fan of tea, I’m more a coffee girl. Omg can we normalise preferring to stay in than go out? I much prefer to stay in, cuddle up and watch a movie. Thank you so much for sharing Xo

Yes, a fellow Brit who is not a tea lover. I almost feel like we are the minority!
Right?! Staying in is the new going out, is it not?! After being locked in for months, I’d still prefer to be home!
Thanks so much for reading! xx
I understand about the tea. I’m half Lebanese and I hate Arabic coffee, which is ingrained in Lebanese tradition to the extent that if you visit someone and don’t drink from their coffee, it is considered that you see that person as an enemy.
I really am a private person too but only IRL.. i tend to overshare maybe a bit much online 😅 thats crazy u have a scar from your brother, i do too 😆 he probably doesn’t know about it or remember. I really wannt to visit the UK, somehow i feel like its more exciting and pretty than the U.S
I really like these kind of posts 😄 thanks for sharing!
Omg! I read the whole thing but the only thing that stuck is “you don’t like tea!”
I love tea
