Blogging Q&A: Questions I Get Asked A lot

I haven’t done a blogging Q&A for the longest time. I really enjoy doing them as a way to answer some questions and share some tips and tricks about life and blogging. The last time I did one of these I was a much less experienced blogger. Which is why I asked my friends on Twitter to submit some questions to me for this post. If you don’t follow me there yet, please do! I’m active on there everyday and Twitter has the best little blogging community. I asked for questions about everything and anything. So be prepared to hear about me, my life and blogging too!

Believe it or not, I still consider myself a new blogger. I haven’t been in this for a long time – just over a year actually. Often I feel like I know so much about blogging, and then at times I feel like I know nothing. I don’t know if and when this feeling will ever stop. So whatever blogging advice I give, it’s from personal experience. All bloggers do things differently and work differently, and thats the beauty of writing. No two people are the same.

Sharing my blogging knowledge with you all is something so small I can do to help to support you. And if I can do that for you guys I will. On my recent post where I shared some facts about myself, I mentioned how I dreamt of being a teacher as a child. And I had so many comments saying even though I didn’t pursue it was a career I am still teaching people. And honestly that made me so happy, because I didn’t think about it like that. I always said when I started blogging how I wanted to help others and wanted to continue to support bloggers on their journeys. And answering some blogging related questions is the least I can do.

BLOGGING QUESTIONS

In this section of the blogging Q&A, I will answer the blogging related questions I received from you guys! I hope you find this section helpful and maybe I answer a question you might of wanted answering.

What advice would you give to bloggers?

My main advice and something I have consistently said throughout my blogging journey is be consistent. I put alot of my growth as a blogger down to posting consistently and often. I know sometimes its not achievable for people to post multiple times a week, but keeping that consistency is so important. When you’re new at blogging you need to do what you can to stand out. Think about how saturated the blogging community is. Theres a blog for everything. So avoiding getting lost in the sea of other bloggers is something you should all be avoiding.

Once learning about SEO, would you recommend going back through older blogs to revamp them to meet SEO?

100% yes. Either that or delete them if they aren’t salvageable anymore. Honestly its the most boring and tedious task there is but its something you should consider doing. It might be those posts that would do well now if they were SEO optimised. When I learnt more about SEO, I actually reposted alot of my old content and optimised it for SEO. Don’t ever be afraid to re-purpose your old content!

What inspired you to start blogging?

My blogging journey started right in the middle of the pandemic. July 2020. I had blogged before back in 2015 and didn’t log in or touch my blog since that date. I really needed a focus. Something new to try out. So I logged in one day and saw how well my blog used to do, and though yes let’s do this again! My original blog was about beauty and makeup, and when I first came back thats what I tried to focus on (those posts are private now!) I quickly realised that wasn’t the focus I wanted anymore. I had changed. And thats why I am here today. I have completely fallen in love with blogging.

OTHER QUESTIONS

I couldn’t fit the other questions into one category for this blogging Q&A so, they are now called the ‘other’ questions! These were just miscellaneous things people asked.

Are you an early bird or night owl?

I would 100% say that I am an early bird. When you work and have a 9-5 you really get into a routine. So much so that I don’t even sleep in at the weekend. I love the morning and am for sure a morning person. I do love staying up late but it gets to midnight and thats when I tap out!

When are you putting your Christmas decorations up?

Usually in my household I put my Christmas decorations up on the 1st December. It was the 10th of December some years but I have managed to persuade my household that it should always be the 1st December. It really starts the month off right!

If you could learn any skill now and money/time was no problem, what would it be?

I would really love to learn how to play the piano. When I was in High School I had keyboard lessons but didn’t stick with it. I am always so jealous of how piano players can just sit there and make music with their hands. Its really so beautiful too. I’d also really love to learn how to code properly. Imagine coding your own website?! Amazing.

Whats your favourite season of the year?

Spring and Summer are for sure my two favourites. If I had to pick one, it would be summer. I love the warmth and the light evenings. I really feel like I come alive when it’s summer time.

If you could listen to one song for the rest of life, what would it be?

This is such a tough one because I have so many favourite songs. I also feel like my favourites change so often aswell. So a song I love right now I might not love in 5 years. I listen to alot of christian worship music, so I would say that I could never get bored of Jireh by Elevation Worship. I also love E.T.A by Justin Bieber aswell.

Whats your favourite holiday?

Easter is my favourite, even over Christmas. Shocking I know! I just love Easter because of the reason. Jesus’ resurrection. The next reason would be because I know that warmer weather is coming. I just feel peaceful around Easter time. I can’t explain it.

  1. I would love to know what your day to day looks like as a blogger, small business owner and full-time worker if you don’t mind sharing. I’m always curious about how other bloggers manage their time.
Also, I would love to learn the piano, and the violin too. They make wonderful music and can be so soothing.

    1. Thanks for asking this!

Everyday is different. I bulk write my content most of the time, so all of my posts are ready and scheduled for the days I post. I usually bulk write in the evenings after work or at the weekend. Honestly balancing everything isn’t as hard as you think, not for me anyway. I work a 9-5 job. And my small business stuff is on the side when I don’t have work or blog stuff to do. Its quite manageable for me actually:)

  2. Why don’t you find an alternative for payments for any purchase on your blog? I got very bored and less motived when I realized I couldn’t buy anything here. We communicated thru email.

    1. Hi there, at this time Paypal is the only option as its used by majority of people around the world. I don’t at this time feel comfortable giving out my direct bank details. If you’d like to purchase something let me know and I can see if there is a work around.

  3. I also want to learn piano! I’ve been subtly hinting at my hubby to buy me a keyboard for Christmas, but the man doesn’t take hints too well. Also, December 1 is a must for decorations. You’re right, it sets the mood right for the month! ☺️
