How To Grow Your Blog In One Year

Now before you get excited thinking that I’m about to share the secret on how to grow your blog in one year, I’m not. Theres no special formula, there’s no secret code other than hard work and consistency. And you’ll see what I mean once we get into this post.

When I first started blogging there are so many regrets and things I wish I had done differently. I made my fair share of blogging mistakes and felt as though that really affected me my first couple of months on my blog. Of course, I learnt from them and its allowed me to help others not make those silly mistakes I did. Growing your blog in one year is hard. It takes alot of work, creativity and passion to make your blog a success in your first year. Which is why I wanted to share some tips and tricks on how to grow your blog in one year. And how that success can look differently to others.

BE CONSISTENT

I scream consistency to any blogger I come across and really share this advice with other writers alot. Being consistent in anything is the only way you will have success. Whether it’s blogging, losing weight or wanting to get a promotion at work. Remaining consistent in what you do is when you will see results.

Make sure you have a solid blogging schedule for your content. Whether it’s once a week or twice a month, stick to it. When my blog grew the most was when I posted the most. At one point I posted a new blog post every single day. I really put this down to why my blog grew so fast in the first year. Getting your content out there and seen by others Is what you want. You want to make a name for yourself early on.

NETWORK AS MUCH AS YOU CAN

Following on from the last point, not only is getting your work out there on a regular basis important to grow your blog in a year. But also making connections and building relationships is another great way to grow your blog. The best thing thats come from blogging for me are the friendships and connections I have made with other writers. Blogging friends are so important on your blogging journey. Not only can you collab with them and support them, they can help you grow your blog and it allows you to tap into a new blogging audience too.

Having blogging friends has been such a blessing, and I really encourage you to put yourself out there and start supporting one another. If you’re unsure how to start building those connections, perhaps reach out to other creators and ask for collabs or ask them to guest post on your blog. This really helps to open the communication channel.

UTILISE SOCIAL MEDIA

Something I failed to do when I first started blogging was using social media. Honestly, social media can be your best friend if you’re looking to grow your blog in one year. I didn’t have much luck using instagram for blogging, but Twitter and Pinterest have been such a great source of traffic to my website since I started taking them more seriously. Sharing your posts and content on various platforms means that there are multiple channels of traffic coming to your site, which is of course what you want!

In the time were in, only having a blogging and no social media won’t help you grow as much as you could. Utilising social media platforms is another great way to build connections with other people too.

  1. The blogs that u write need you to be proactive, creative and consistent. I agree with you 100% Olivia.

Also, using Pinterest and Twitter as well as Instagram is the best way to drive traffic and get more readers interests.

  2. Thanks for sharing these Olivia! Consistency has definitely helped my blog grow too! I’ll definitely consider getting Twitter, I’m not the biggest fan of using Instagram for blogging so maybe Twitter will be better! 😆

  4. Consistency has always been a struggle for me, even at a young age. And I know that’s because I don’t practice enough. Whether that’s ballet or blogging! LOL. But part of what holds me back from taking my blog more seriously in getting it to the next level is that I don’t want to create content just for the sake of creating content, and I guess I feel so insecure in my ability to create good content frequently and consistently that right now it tends to take me a long time between posts. Already in the last week I’ve written three posts that I scheduled and then moved back to drafts. Part of that is because I can’t figure out what I want my brand/niche to be and part of that is because I’m afraid of creating bad content. I’ve always known that I love and want to write, but what to actually write about and how to write about it is where I’m continuously stumped.
