Handling Anxiety Naturally

The symptoms of anxiety vary from person to person and they can be debilitating for most, but with an active lifestyle, you can bring down those feelings and learn to keep a cool, calm head in a perceived crisis. It’s important to understand how anxiety can impact your life so that you can learn to handle it but medication may not be the route that you want to go down.

There are so many ways that you can naturally help those anxiety symptoms, from visiting a cannabis clinic to working out. Anxiety symptoms can be brought down with the right help and below, we’ve got a list of things that you can do without having to turn to medication. Let’s dive in!

This is a contributed post.

EXERCISE

Did you know that people with active lifestyles have a 60% lower chance of developing anxiety? Exercise doesn’t just work as a distraction from the thoughts that can increase your anxiety, but it can get your heart rate up and generate the right changes in your brain chemistry. Anti-anxiety neurotransmitters like serotonin can help you to lessen those anxiety feelings. Even something as simple as a nature walk can get you feeling better about anxiety.

LIMIT HOW MUCH YOU DRINK

Limiting how much you drink no, we’re not talking about water! Alcohol intake can interfere with messengers in the brain that regulate your mood. This level of interference can cause an imbalance and this can manifest as anxiety.  There are studies that show that sobriety away from alcohol can help to lessen the feelings of anxiety. If you’re using alcohol to try and dampen upset feelings, that’s not going to help. Going to a rehab centre and speaking to your doctor can help you to handle your intake.

STOP SMOKING

Some who have anxiety will smoke more and that leads to all kinds of health issues. You may already be aware of those health issues and if you’re now dealing with anxiety, it’s time to slow down and stop! You can take up some better habits and help yourself to create an environment that works for a smoke-free life, and as long as you keep your hands busy you’ll be less likely to reach for cigarettes anytime you’re feeling anxious.

REDUCE CAFFEINE

Caffeine can worsen the symptoms of anxiety and you’ll know that when you get the coffee jitters! That knee bouncing, fast talking result of caffeine can worsen those anxiety symptoms. The easiest way to reduce caffeine-induced anxiety? Stop the coffee! Those coffees can be swapped to decaf so you still get your morning taste without the hit of jitters.

GET GOOD SLEEP

Get a good night of sleep. Sometimes, sleeping a good few hours can help you to take down the anxiety to a manageable level. You need to sleep well consistently so that you can feel better day to day.

Anxiety doesn’t have to be handled with medication, not when there are natural options and easy ways to feel good from head to toe.

    2. I’ve got to kick caffine…I’m pretty much down to one cupa in the morning, a couple of cups of tea later…I’ve said goodbye to anything with alcohol in it, and thanks to PANAS I now know I’m a mad scientist? yikes?
