4 Tips For Healthy Winter Skin

Every winter my skin seems to go into melt down, and my skincare routine usually stops because I get too lazy to do it. It’s like my body can’t cope with the cold weather, and thats one of many reasons why I am convinced I was born in the wrong country. I need sun! The Winter months can be hard on our bodies and it can be hard for us to transition into a new, colder season (unless you live on the Southern Hemisphere that is).

Its so important to look after our bodies and our skin. It’s literally the skin we live in, we should be protecting it and making sure its looked after, just like the rest of our body. Today I’ll be sharing some Winter skincare tips that we should be following all throughout the colder seasons, let’s get started!

UPDATE YOUR SKINCARE ROUTINE

As the seasons change, so should your skincare routine. Be sure to switch out some of your powder products for cream based products. This is to make sure your skin is staying moisturised. Be sure to limit the use of toners as they contain substances that can sometimes further dry out the skin(and thats not what we want).

In the winter months I tend to cut down on the products that I know dry my skin out. If my skin is already dry I don’t want to make It even more dry. Remember you are the one that knows your skin the best, so you do what feels right for you and your body.

USE A-LOT OF MOISTURISER

Moisturiser should be your best friend all year, but even more so in Winter. I suffer with really dry elbows and im constantly lathering on so much cream to help get rid of it. Add moisturiser into your daily routine to make sure the chill of Winter doesnt make it worse.

As a child I had really dry hands, so dry they used to crack and become really sore. We want to prevent that from happening to you, so make sure you invest in some good body, face and hand moisturiser.

DON’T FORGET TO DRINK WATER

Water should be a standard thing you are consuming daily. But as it gets colder the want to drink a cold drink becomes less and less, and its understandable why. Water is so important in everyday life and really important for your skin too. Drinking water helps your body to flush out any toxins your body has. Studies have revealed that drinking just two cups of water can increase blood flow to the skin which gives it an even tone.

REMEMBER TO WEAR SPF

SPF is so important even if there isn’t any sun out. Did you know you can still burn and get a tan even if its cloudy outside? Winter sun can be as damaging to your skin as summer sun. The sun can be really damaging to your skin and cause ageing and we don’t want that. So many moisturisers contain SPF now, just check the product before you buy it, that way you kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

How do you change your skincare routine during the seasons? Do you suffer from dry skin? If so, how do you combat it?

  2. I’m bad at drinking water too. Last year I made a chart for myself to ensure I drank water each day! I like to track things so this worked for me. I noticed a significant improvement with dry skin last winter so I think I’m going to do it again.😁

  3. I have the same issues with my hands, so I use a cocoa butter lotion to maintain moisture. Thanks for the info about using SPF moisturizers during the winter too. I didn’t realize the sun could still be damaging during that season. Sheesh!

  6. I think aloe vera gel is a great and natural source of adding moisture to the skin. Applying a lot of petroleum jelly to the lips can prevent it from getting chapped and also stops bleeding.
I follow the above two tips and I think it is really useful in winter and therefore wanted to share it with you.
    Have a great day ahead!
