Will 2021 Be Better Than 2020?

The million dollar question, will 2021 be better than 2020? I wish I knew the answer. If I could write this and have a crystal ball looking into the future I would. I’d first look at if this stupid virus was gone. Because let’s face it, thats the one thing thats really screwed us over this year. I’d then look to see (and hope and pray) that all of the businesses and people who lost their jobs and homes have got all of it back. I really do feel for those people. And then I’d probably look to see if the world has any sort of hope that equality and injustice are resolved. Thats one thing I really wish for in 2021.

I think alot of things depend on your mind set. Some have really thrived and made this year their year. Whereas some have really struggled mentally and physically and have just barely made it through. One thing for sure is that coming into 2021 we need to have each others backs. We need to make sure that we are sticking together, because we are going through this together.

BRACE YOURSELF

All I’m saying is, brace yourself for the sheer fact that COVID and everything else will not just magically disappear when the clock strikes midnight. I really appreciate the fact that everyone is betting on 2021 being the year all of our problems go away. But I hate to break it to you, it doesn’t work like that. There may be a new year on our dates but our problems will still be very real and there.

We have no idea what tomorrow will hold, so don’t get your hopes up too much. I’m quite an optimistic person, so I am really hoping and praying things will get better next year. But I am also a realistic person, so I know it might not happen straight away.

2021 WILL BE WHAT YOU MAKE IT

Just like 2020, 2021 will be what you make it. Yes there may be restrictions in place, yes there might be things we cant do. But that doesn’t mean we should curl up into a ball and stop living. You can still have a great year even under the current circumstances. 2020 was a bad year, but I have so many things to be thankful for. I re-started my blog in 2020 and have had so many amazing milestones from it. What are you thankful for that happened in 2020?

It’s with anything in life, it’s what you make it.

THINK POSITIVELY

I know this will be a challenge, and even writing this out is hard for me. But we really do need to think positively. This wont be our lives forever. And we can have realistic hope that 2021 will be better. I think if we all wish hard enough it will happen! I know our mental health will probably suffer some more in the new year, but we really need to get behind each other and love and support.

There are always positives in negative situations. ALWAYS. You just have to be looking for them.

Do you think 2021 will be better or worse?
What are some of your 2021 goals?
What are you looking forward to in the New Year?

Recently I heard this funny (but true) quote on Tik Tok, and I knew I had to write it out and share it on Instagram. For those who don’t follow me there or don’t have Instagram. Here it is! I just thought it was so funny and something good to end this post on.

  2. We will learn ASAP if 2021 will be better or worst. My fear is phrase three of the coronavirus. The cold days of Winter are here. We need to stay safe and wait for the warm days of Spring. Happy New Year, have some fun and stay safe.

    1. Yes! I love Spring and Summer. When we went through this during that time in 2020, I found it was so much easier to go through! The cold and dark days make it that little more harder.

  4. I think I am one of those who has overall really thrived in 2020 and in some ways made it my year! I like your point that we shouldn’t expect things to magically get better straight away in 2021, and that 2021 will be what you make of it

  6. I think 2021 will end a lot better than it starts. A lot of people seem to think it will magically restart in Jan but I personally think it will be in autumn when we really see things getting back to normal.
Baby steps throughout the year and a lot of patience imo

  7. That really is the question isn’t it.
I feel as if it’s an achievement just to remain standing at the end of 2020.
That said, I’m going into the new year with my positivity hat on – as always 🤷🏻‍♀️☺️
Hope you have a wonderful new year Olivia!

  8. I love the message that the year will be what YOU make it. I had a really rough 2020, as I know many did. It all really came crashing down for me when I lost my job over the summer. But the other day one of my friends in our group chat asked us all to share the happy things that had happened to us in 2020 and it turns out there were still so many positive things for us to share, and things each one of us were able to celebrate as an acievement. It’s easy to say 2020 was a terrible year, but it was sort of therapeutic to look back and realise it wasn’t all terrible.

    Happy New Year to you!

    1. I’m so sorry to hear that! Looking back at the positives really helps us to have a different mindset at what has happened this year. It hasn’t all been bad!

Happy new year to you too!

  11. Superb post, Olivia. You’re right that our problems won’t magically disappear at the stroke of midnight. I agree that the new year will be what we make it. Our attitude impacts a lot of what we receive and perceive. Best wishes for a great 2021!
