My Blogging Journey – Olivia Lucie Blake

My Blogging Journey – Olivia Lucie Blake

My blogging journey has really not been anything that I ever anticipated. Although I didn’t really re-start my blog with any intention of it going anywhere like it has. My blog has become such a positive outlet for me, and like everyone else it has been a great distraction during this pandemic. Blogging has saved me in so many different ways, its given me a passion and an outlet. It’s also allowed me to help so many other people in the blogging community and helped me realise my passions in life. And I never thought blogging would ever provide me with that.

6 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

6 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

Being happy during this weird life we are all currently living is something that we should all cherish. Happiness can come in many forms, and it’s different for each of us. I am constantly reminding myself of the things I have that I should be thankful for, and doing this really helps change my perspective. I do admit though that some days are harder than others. Some days I feel really productive and others I feel like a sloth. And you know what, thats okay! Were living in a pandemic. You can be a sloth.

5 Things Nobody Tells You About Grief

5 Things Nobody Tells You About Grief

If you can relate to this post, and you have been through the stages of grief and I am right there with you. Losing someone from your life is really one of the hardest things I have ever had to go through. Grief is different for everyone, no two people go through the same process. One of the things that I never understood was that I was never prepared for the death of someone in my life. Death isn’t a subject thats taught at school, and thats for obvious reasons. But I don’t ever remember a time where death/grief was really explained to me.

Finding My Passion During a Pandemic

Finding My Passion During a Pandemic

At the start of 2020, nobody had any idea the whole year would be filled with a pandemic. So many lives lost and lives changed forever. I remember when I first heard of the Coronavirus in December/January. Luckily it was still only in China at the time when I travelled to New York for my birthday. Little did I know when I got home, that life would change forever.

There have been so many struggles during this time, and there is still is on occasion. But so many good things came out from 2020. One of them being a real re-focus in my life, and finding out what I was passionate about. If you can’t tell already, I am an optimistic person – most of the time. I see life as a glass half full and know that bad things don’t last forever. But throughout this pandemic it has become increasingly harder to stay on that thought process.

The Perfect Valentine’s Gift Ideas for 2021

The Perfect Valentine’s Gift Ideas for 2021

With Valentine’s day just around the corner I know there is this expectation in the air. what will he/she buy me? Will they like my gift? What will we have for dinner? Will everything go perfectly? I am truly so excited for those who celebrate this season.

And for those that don’t, well I am there with you. You don’t need a holiday to show that you love someone. I have a real love hate relationship with Valentine’s day. It should be called single awareness day instead. Because for the rest of the year I pay no mind to the fact I am single. But around valentines day it becomes a regular thought in my mind.

How to Cope With Online Negativity

How to Cope With Online Negativity

Online negativity is something we will all go through if we find ourselves on the internet for long enough. Naturally, with positive things there are always negatives. We can’t always expect things to be peachy all of the time. There are mean, nasty and negative people out there who want to cause you distress and make you unhappy and thats the reality of life.

Thankfully, I’ve only ever encountered a handful of mean people online. I know this isn’t the experience alot of people have and for that I am thankful.

Life is Not A Race Friend

Life is Not A Race Friend

Life is not a race it’s more of a slow, hard, cold, wet walk with a bunch of people ahead of you.

There is a certain unspoken pressure on us as people that we are meant to be at certain life stages at certain times. And we are meant to be this kind of person with these kind of goals. It’s sad that society has done this to us and if we don’t meet these expectations then we see ourselves as failures. It’s sad really because we often compare our lives to others and forget we are all on our own journeys.

Things I’d Say to My Younger Self

Things I’d Say to My Younger Self

I know writing to your younger self is such a cliche and overdone thing, but I have really wanted to do this for a while. I had so many expectations of how life was going to go when I was younger that have not been met. And I’m not sure if its because of my own expectations that I set or the fact nobody told me adult life would be this way. I did not sign up for this.

I guess as kids we are sheltered from alot of things. Knowing about sex and relationships and all of the ugly and evil things of this world. But I wish I would have known how hard growing up would be, and that it wouldn’t be easy. Perhaps my parents let me watch too many princess movies or reality tv and thats what warped my view of life. I mean I thought I’d be married with kids at 25, and for the record I am nowhere near ready for that.

How Social Media is Slowly Destroying Us

How Social Media is Slowly Destroying Us

According to statistics, one in three marriages end in divorce due to affairs started on social media. 210 million people are estimated to suffer from internet and social media addictions, and 71% of people sleep with or next to their mobile phone [kinda weird if you think about it!]. Believe me too, these were not the craziest statistics I found when researching this topic.

It is What It is

It is What It is

Do you ever find yourself in situations saying it is what it is? I find myself saying this when I get let down or if plans don’t play out like I thought they would. I mean the whole of 2020 was a big it is what it is wasn’t it? Because of the year we had in 2020 I think we all have this mentality now to some extent. We all had plans that year to do great things and see family and make memories and instead it brought loss, death, heartbreak and isolation. And it really reminded me that we really aren’t in control of our lives. We can control our now but not so much our future.
