My One Year Blogging Anniversary

I can’t quite believe that Olivia Lucie Blake has turned one and its my one year blogging anniversary. Coming back to blogging after having almost 4 years away from this site, I had no idea what I was coming back to. If you are unsure of my blogging journey story, my blog was originally called Diadem of Beauty. With my main goal of wanting to share about beauty and hair products for all different races and hair types. I blogged on this topic for about a year. I didn’t see much growth in that year, as I was so inconsistent and realised that I had created such a small niche in my content. I don’t know about you, but this year especially I have come to appreciate the people I have around me. With everything happening with the pandemic, it has reminded me that life is fragile and can be taken away at any moment. There is still so much turmoil and hate in the world, and I don’t think there will ever be a time where we are all unified as one race. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t things we can do to show our love and appreciation for others.

Showing love to others doesn’t need to be big and elaborate, it can be a small act of kindness or a small gesture in some way to brighten someones day. In todays post we’ll go through some ways you can show those around you that you appreciate them. Depending on your own love language, you might already do some of these things. But I thought it would be a good idea to spread some love and positivity into the world today, because boy do we need it.

So many times I have started writing a list of things to be grateful for, and I have found that once you start writing, you cant stop listing the things that brings you joy. The act itself of starting to think, and acknowledge the good we have in life can be hard to start. Often times we are surrounded by negative things, and bad situations that it clouds out the good we actually have. Anxiety is something I have lived with for years. Although it’s never been diagnosed by a doctor – and I for one don’t think its needs to, its still something that I struggle with almost daily. It’s not as bad as it once has been. The panic attacks are few and far between but I do still find myself suffering from intrusive thoughts and worry. I know that its something I will probably live with my whole life, and I have learnt to accept that. But knowing this doesn’t make it any easier to deal with.

Things I’d Say to My Younger Self

I know writing to your younger self is such a cliche and overdone thing, but I have really wanted to do this for a while. I had so many expectations of how life was going to go when I was younger that have not been met. And I’m not sure if its because of my own expectations that I set or the fact nobody told me adult life would be this way. I did not sign up for this.

I guess as kids we are sheltered from alot of things. Knowing about sex and relationships and all of the ugly and evil things of this world. But I wish I would have known how hard growing up would be, and that it wouldn’t be easy. Perhaps my parents let me watch too many princess movies or reality tv and thats what warped my view of life. I mean I thought I’d be married with kids at 25, and for the record I am nowhere near ready for that.
