5 Things That Bring Me Joy

I try to wakeup everyday with a grateful heart. We are given a fresh start everyday, how lucky we are. It’s important that I find small or big things in my day that bring me joy. When I was at my lowest mentally, each day I’d tell myself what I was thankful for and why. It helped bring so much perspective to so many bad days.

So I thought I’d share some of these with you, and I want you to share some of yours with me too!

1. SUNRISES & SUNSETS

I am a sucker for a sunrise and sunset. Each day we get this glorious painting in the sky for us to enjoy. I think thats so amazing. Me and my friend each summer go to hills not too far from where we live and we go and watch the sunset. Its the most grounding, humbling thing watching the sunset go down from so high up. It puts a lot of things into perspective.

2. WORKING

A weird one for sure. I never thought I’d get to the point in life where I love my job. I wake up each day so ready and excited to go to work. it almost sounds like I’m making this up but I promise I’m not. When you find a job you love, there is no other feeling like it. Im also thankful for my job as a way of income for me. So many people over this year have lost their jobs, it makes me feel so lucky to still be in a stable paying job.

3. LITTLE LIVES

I am so thankful to have the family that I do. We are all a bunch of weirdos and thats why I love us. I appreciate family so much more now that I’m an aunt. Seeing my brother become a father and seeing my sister pregnant really fills me with so much love and appreciation for my family. Its the biggest blessing of life thus far!

4. BATHS WITH BUBBLES

To me, there is nothing better after a long hard day than getting into a hot bath with lots of bubbles. As a child my dad would make the bubbles so high you couldn’t see me sat in there, such a great memory. I think I enjoy that time too because its away from my phone, away from other people and I get time to sit and reflect on my day. Almost like the water and bubbles wash away the hardships of that day.

5. FACETIME CALLS

I really don’t do these enough, but I love FaceTime calls. Many of my closest friends live in America (I live in the UK) so we don’t get to speak or see each other as much as I’d like. We don’t have a schedule of when we FaceTime, its usually random but I always feel so much happier after seeing and speaking with them.

  1. Love this list, especially the sunrises and sunsets! I once went to a beach in the UK at 2am to watch the sunrise. Agree with working, so grateful for my job and of course family. Such a simple but important list. Thanks for sharing and helping put my day back into perspective, needed it!

    I’m a sucker for sunrise and sunsets too, you should see me smile watching it like I’d been given a thousand dollars for no work done 😂
    I hate video calls though, lol
    Family is everything to me! Athen food. Oh what good food does to me!! Yes I’m a foodie and I’m not even embarrassed about it🤭🤭

  6. I agree with the sunsets and sunrise, they are so humbling. For me just the mere fact that I exist and still get the chance to experience this life, that brings me the utmost joy and grace ❤️

  7. I love the fact that you enjoy your job! It’s so easy to wake up at 7am every day groaning about another day at work but the fact that your job excites you is really good and makes me really happy 🙂 – I start a graduate job this September and I hope I will feel the same about my job!

    1. It took me a while to get to that point. I have had a fair few jobs before that I really hated every second of. I guess thats why I’m so thankful for the job I have now 😊

    1. Sunsets and Sunrises are just the best aren’t they. I always feel so lucky that we get one of each everyday. And I love that they symbolise a new beginning and the end of a day. 💖

  9. This was such a lovely post to read!! I agree sunsets are so beautiful I really love them. And there are so many small things that bring me joy like watching a movie with my boyfriend, cuddling with my cat, finishing a book and definitely a bath with bubbles (that one just might be my top) 😊💕

      I think its the small things in life that mean the most to us. I have to agree though, if there were an order it would be a bubble bath. Nothing beats it after a long hard day!

  13. Those are all beautiful things to be thankful for. I am so thankful for the love that people I have in my life give me. If I am feeling down I like to think of spending time with someone and remembering they liked my company too,

  18. The little things are what bring us to life! I truly believe that. Cups of coffee in the morning, the soothing sounds of rain, good food, hugs and kisses, baby animals, a cosy spaces, uplifting quotes, friends and family, rest! So much goodness.

  21. Baths with bubbles and sunshine for sure! I used to love FaceTime when my husband and I are long distance, now I avoid all calls because I’m with my person! Sunrises and sunsets are lovely too~ I like them from different places in the word and not equally! Lol

  24. What makes me happy is following what the Bible say at Act 20:35 “There is more happiness in giving than there is in receiving” When I give to others it makes me happy to see the joy on there faces.
